The first half inevitably leads to a judgment about homosexuals (and not a good one), but I think you're leaning towards the second half, which implies that your sexuality is some kind of accomplishment that deserves praise. I'm just curious as to why one would feel accomplished for being heterosexual, and why it deserves pride.

I mean, usually people reserve pride for when they've accomplished something such as rearing a respectable child.

Yes, but that's slightly different. I don't mean to set a double standard for homosexuals, as I don't think "pride" in your sexuality is the correct use of the term either way, but "gay pride" is an instrument used in making the public (or your friends, or your family, etc) aware of an issue in hopes of ultimately resolving it.

You seem to have ignored what I typed. There is no reason for anyone to have "pride" in their sexuality. That's like having pride in your pinky toe. You didn't contribute to its creation or growth. It's just there, whether you like it or not.

Are you ****ing kidding me? Why shouldn't I be able to be proud of what I am? I take great satisfaction in my relationships with males. I love men. I would be just as proud as if I loved women. Who are you to question that? Oh, I should mention that I'm VERY proud to be a woman, are you going to tell me that means I hate men or look down on them?

You can be happy and proud that you ended up with THAT pinky toe, as opposed to a slightly longer or slightly hairier pinky toe. As a straight man, I'm proud of my sexuality. It's something I had no choice in, but I'm happy with it.

Homosexuals have their gay pride parade to show they're proud of their sexuality, and to rejoice in it, and to draw attention to it, to normalise it.

So I don't see why Paloma, or anyone saying they're proud of their sexuality is a bad thing.

An appearance is something you can work at. If you spend a lot of time researching trends and picking out clothes and styles, you're welcome to be proud of your appearance. But being prideful in your excellent bone structure... doesn't make sense.

It has NOTHING to do with gay vs. straight, let's get that out of the way. Now, what reasons do you have for being proud of your sexuality?

I wasn't talking about fashion sense so much as your genetics. People are proud of their faces, bodies, genes, etc. Are you saying that you wouldn't take pride in being hung 12 inches?
