In what way did they have it coming? You don't think if you were in that situation your family would want to fight to keep your life? They didn't publicise Terry's situation for fun, they were involved in a legal battle with her husband on whether she should be kept alive or not. If America doesn't give two hoots about that then they're stupid, apart from anything else, because the decision in this case forms the basis for any similar cases in the future so if it's someone you know next time you'd be scrambling to find half the arguments discussed in Terry's case and you'd count your blessings to receive half the public support she did.

If I were braindead I would not want to be kept alive. If someone I knew...OH WAIT! One of my very good friends got shot in the head by his brother and was braindead instantly...And, oh, he wasn't kept alive by some machinery and crap. There was NO POINT.

But really. shut up now. I have better things to do then sit here and blab on and on in this stupid debate about nothingness.

No point? Terry was starting to respond to some things. She could have improved, there's that little thing called hope that you can't berate her family for having.

A persons life is precious and not a debate about nothing. However if you feel this way then stop reading the thread. No-one's forcing you to reply.

Actually, I'm pretty sure that they proved that she wasn't actually responding to things around her, and that there was no chance that her situation could have been improved. Personally, I wouldn't want to be kept alive in that situation, all the things that make life worth living would be stripped away.

Sweet Jane 04-11-2005 07:01 PM

She'd smiled or something a few days before they let her go. Can't remember what else it was. Anyway I wouldn't want to be kept alive like if no chance of recovering either, I was simply saying that I can fully understand why the situation was of such public importance, and I can see why the family would find it hard to just give up.

Isn't that what was in question throughout all those court appeals? Or did the autopsy report already surface, and is that what was determined?

How this went from HotorNot pics to Terry Shiavo is peculiar to say the least.

Yeah, I can easily see why it's of so much importance. Most of the reports I heard anyways was that even though she did smile, they were random impulses rather than actual responses to the things around her. I also heard that when they removed the feeding tube, her nervous system was so damaged that she wouldn't have felt any discomfort from being hungry and thirsty, which is definitely a good thing.
