It depends on what you categorise as a rape joke. I don't think it's funny to laugh at the actual act but there's a lot of humour to be found in the outdated and ridiculous attitudes towards it. Breaking taboos is one of the best parts of comedy and there's funny angles to every subject.

It seems like rape jokes are someone's obsession.

I've said this on another thread but I'll repeat it here. Rape is not funny. Duh. But humor is about skewing reality. If it wasn't it would be just stating facts. So if you laugh at a rape joke you are not laughing at rape, you are basically laughing at an alternate reality.


You mean where some people laughed at...whoever's story? I kind of did too. Not because the idea of some creepy guy flashing a child is at all funny, but the instant I read it I got an image of a guy in bunny ears prancing around in slow motion, dick flapping in the wind, possibly in some kind of field with happy, sunny music playing in the background. Of course there was also no child in my mental image. If that's what he was trying to get at and just ended up digging himself into a hole by trying to defend a point he didn't even really believe in but couldn't admit lest he lose face then I would understand. If not...
