Just practice - where you might be tempted to lash out at the other person, instead include a fact that might change their mind. Include things that they might relate to. If you are truly convicted on your side of the argument, you should have no problem finding concrete evidence to back yourself up. There are plenty of times I've been tempted to type "well, then you're just stupid". I come back to those thoughts later and try to write something constructive.

And I appreciate you saying that - getting my thoughts across clearly is something I work at everyday. And I'm still working at it.

People are actually upset about that? I was just going with the popular narrative.

I'm sure he's already on a list of convicted people.

The comment is 100% sincere.

Thing is, I'm about to turn 57. My 86 year old dad is in a nursing home with severe dementia. I'm already starting to see the early warning signs. These past few years I'm wearing my emotions on my sleeve more and more. Can't help it either. The beginnings of "Cranky old man" syndrome 101 I guess.

But I really enjoy your posts and will try harder.

I don't think it's a matter of eloquence or even temper. You'd need to have a grasp of how logic works and I'm pretty sure that ship has sailed a long time ago.

Now I feel like a dick. Slinking can't be good for your back.
