Lost in Translation...

Ever buy anything from China, Japan or some other non-English-speaking country, and read the instruction booklet? The attempts at translation into English can be really hilarious. Sure, sure: I'd be doing well to translate their language, of course. But hey: this is just really funny. Here are some extracts from the instructions (use the term very loosely) on a pair of binoculars I bought recently.

"Because the lens and the prism etc are adjusted accurately, if it drops or is hit, the center will be made with excursion, the field of vision will not be matched and the picture will deflect, please use it with care."

"Please make sure to store it at the place with no moisture and put dryer with it, besides this it shall be solarized at the place with good ventilation."

"After using it on beach or ship where there is humidity sea wind, please don't store it in the case without any treatment, wipe it slightly with dried cloth after wiping salt off it with completely twisted duster cloth wetted."

"Please don't look at the sun absolutely. If you look at the sun, your eyes may be ache and blind sometimes."

And my absolute favourite:

"Don't put it in the sun."

You don't go places so the only reasons I can think why you would want a pair of binoculars is to spy on a sexy neighbor or be that old guy who reports people parking in front of fire hydrants to the police.

What's a realistic goal with these threads TH? Do you make these thinking they'll get like 100 responses or like maybe 12 and then forgotten forever?

grindy 06-25-2018 07:33 PM

Ban him!
*lights pitchfork*

Exo 06-25-2018 07:38 PM

Lol. I'm just curious.

Philosophical forum questions wow

Tbf your dead record thread from earlier today will probably be a 12-and-done as well

Key 06-25-2018 07:51 PM

The irony is that you started the OP with a grammatical error.

grindy 06-25-2018 07:52 PM

It's the middle of the ****ing night in Europe. TH is doing the sober equivalent of drunken nightly ****posting.

Just saying there’s merit to threads that will only get a handful of responses too

Your choosing my implication. I'm just curious as to what makes TH tick.

Zhanteimi 06-25-2018 08:02 PM

Don't get me started. I'm surrounded by this shit.

Please write in the spirit of the thread:

Trollheart is realistic in thread, with these goals? Do thinking of 100 responses make or perhaps maybe 12? Then Trollheart forgotten forever?

We don't have fire hydrants in Ireland. Take from that what you will.

Oddly enough, thought there might be some easy banter from people who may have also read weirdly-written instructions. Crazy, I know....

God damn it! :banghead:

Actually, in fairness it wasn't a grammatical but a spelling error. Still, see above.

Key 06-26-2018 07:59 PM

^using the wrong form of a word in a sentence is a grammatical error. You spelled it correctly. Just in the wrong form.

Or I could be wrong. Idk anymore.

No, the sentence was meant to be "ever bought anything?" which is right, but I accidentally spelled it "every". It's not as if I meant to say "ever loaned money to someone" and wrote instead "ever borrowed money to someone". I knew what I was saying, and how to say it. I just added a "y" by accident and that changed the perceived meaning of the sentence. In fact, it made it nonsensical. So it wasn't grammatical, but a spelling error.

Also, doesn't matter. :D

They banned fire hydrants in Ireland after they tried to tap them and discovered there wasn't any beer in them.
