Chuck Berry
Jerry Lee Lewis Little Richard Bo Diddley The Ramones XTC The Cramps The Sonics John Prine I could have seen Bo, XTC, Prine, and The Sonics but didn't, for various reasons that seem lame in retrospect. If there is a musical act you want to see, even though it might be difficult, make every effort to go. You never know when that paritucular tour, or even individual show, might be their last one. These are the ones that I regret because I had the chance to see all of them perform live but didn't feel like going out for a night on the town on the nights they played near me...
Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan Screamin' Jay Hawkins Wilson Pickett Hubert Sumlin Kris Kristofferson (He was playing 1/4 of a mile from the hotel I was staying in but there was another show happening at the same time which I went to instead.) Waylon Jennings Merle Haggard Dead Kennedys (With Jello Biafra) (I read an interview with Jello some years ago and he said that particular show I missed was his favorite that he ever played with the band.) At the time, I figured that "I'll just go see them the next time they're on tour" but sometimes that "next time" never comes. |

I am ashamed to admit that I didn't really discover the following until sometime after their departures.
Billy Joe Royal-His passing in 2015 is what led me away from the shallow end and into the deep end where his music is concerned. I now have just about everything that was ever released of him. Steve Sanders of the Oak Ridge Boys-His suicide was in 1998. I discovered him in 2017. Northern Calloway-I was only seven years old when he passed in January of 1990 and for those of you who don't know of him, he was David from the Sesame Street children's show. I discovered him with my more grownup frame of mind in 2022 after learning that the man who gave us Luis had succumbed to cancer in March of that year. Sadly, the man who gave us Bob also went on at the end of that year. Anyway, I love Northern's singing, his songwriting, and his smile. ![]() God bless you and their families always!!! Holly P.S. Now, I do have to point out that while I did get to see the Oak Ridge Boys once back in the summer of 1991 at the Cincinnati Zoo when I was nine years old, the only memory of the show that I have is fellow group member Joe Bonsall saying that he likes to see the cats when he goes to any zoo. Sadly, Joe is also no longer here. His passing was in July of last year.

I really liked Billy Joe Royal's early hits "Down In The Boondocks" and "Cherry Hill Park". I'm not that familiar with his later country stuff. He used to play a club in Cincinnati near wherer I used to live. I thought "well, I'll see him there sometime." Sadly, that time never came. |

^^^ My mom had a greatest hits tape of his material that included "Boondocks", "I Knew You When", "Hush", and "Cherry Hill Park" and so I knew very well everything that came from that greatest hit package, but when his passing took place, I checked out his material from the late 80s which of course was his official country music contributions. To me, his singing was only better then compared to his sound in the 60s, but in my opinion, it's all awesome.
![]() God bless you and his family always!!! Holly P.S. Billy Joe wasn't much of a songwriter, but one song co-written by him went all the way to #4 in 1989. "Love Has No Right" is the name of the song.
