Maroon 5. Pop or Rock?
 

Im doing a music project and i have to do some research into a band or artist. Im researching Maroon 5, and i want to know what you think about them. How would you desribe their image? What makes them appealing?

I hate that band with a passion, but from a objective point of view, i would say they are both... A common misconception with people today is that pop and rock are completely different genres, which isnt always true, rock music has its origins in pop music, folks like Little Richard, Chuck Berry and Elvis Presley were rock n roll innovators, but they are also looked at as international pop stars, with some of the biggest chart toppers of all time... The Beatles and The Beach Boys are a prime example of the fusions between pop and rock, they have influenced both genres of music in some way... Even punk rock has its pop roots.

I used to like this band a lot...but there songs are getting boring to me. IMHO, I don't think there's anything appealing about them...research a different band. lol no offence, they were good for a while.

I hate that band with my soul, my nose, my heart, my lungs, my brain, my spleen, my tounge, my apendex, my testicles, my ears, my kneecap, my toes, my fingers, my arms, my legs my feet, my hands, my intestines, my stomach, my gall bladder, my bladder, my kidneys, and my hair(both kinds).

They dont have an image they're a pop group twill change to whatever is hip.

So obviously pop. No need for this thread, everyone knows they are Pop. I usded to like these. The only problem is they released so many songs from their first album that they became a one trick pony. And their songs got to much airplay, which just made them annoying.

Not even rock! Pop for sure!

IDGAF for Maroon 5, pop-alicious. None-the-less, Levine is a good vocalist, I think he needs to start pullin' like Jamie Foxx.

definetly not rock, more like pop but with a guitar. I heard that they used to be sort of a melodic pop-punk band though called 'calvis flowers' or something similar...

lol. I know Maroon 5 is an American 'Pop-Rock' band. :wave:

Pop and rock aren't opposites. They are in fact very related, at least that's what I've heard. Pop music is very broad, whether you're talking about the genre or just chart music in general.

EDIT: Now I kind of feel bad for posting in this thread, it didn't need to be bumped. It was (until earlier today) seven years since anyone posted in it, and the band has probably changed their direction since then. What I've heard from them might not even be relevant.
