Ofcourse, but he made it a much more well known and successful tune than The Beatles!!!:usehead: The Beatles are great, but he practically "owns" that tune as far as it being well known on the music scene today!!!Nobody really knew or cared for the song before he did it, that's for sure!!!:pimp:

bungalow 01-02-2006 07:00 PM

^HA!
That is stupid. The Beatles version is by far the better version.
And I would bet that more people know of and prefer the Beatles version than Eltons

Yes, but the only reason more people know of it is because Elton John was more successful in bringing it out publicly!!!Elton John, in that way, owns it...
...I didn't say he did it better or that people shouldn't like The Beatles version!!!:nono: I love The Beatles, man!!!The "White Album(s)" is such a great collection of some of their best music, I.M.O.Listen to what you like most, even if you still prefer "Sgt. Peppers" so fukkin much!!!To each his own and don't base any of your decisions of music on what others say is better or is more popular!!!:usehead: Be your own person for God's sakes, understand!!!:D

cardboard adolescent 01-02-2006 10:04 PM

I'm sure that the 3 million people who purchased Elton John's album with that cover were much more successful in popularizing Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds than the 7.1 million people that bought Sgt. Peppers.

Hell, I didn't even know Elton John did a cover of that song.

"Tito's Way" by the Juan Maclean. The lyrics of which are, ironically, " blah blah blah, look out, you're hooked."

Or something like that.
