Like to me a lot of people use it just to show off how obscure and avant-garde their music taste is compared to everyone else out there.

Like i'm chill if you want to use it to find people with similar tastes, and discuss and expand with them, but the idea of just using it to show off what music you listen to is just pretentious to me.

I personally joined up here to be a pretentious **** about music with other pretentious ****s (of which there are plenty) because there aren't enough pretentious ****s in my home life, which is just full of ****s.

You inevitably reach a certain level of consumption with music where you become a pretentious **** just by talking about it.

The thing is, pretty much any discussion of the pros and cons of music is pretentious. Pretty much all music is pretentious to some degree.

Yup. 99% of the records you own were made by a pretentious **** who followed through... What good music was ever inspired by coming home from work and eating frozen pizza and talking to your friend on the phone about absolute ****?

I like it because it shows what you like to hear for the most part. If you're into only new or weird stuff that's cool too.

Thats what I was hoping for.

Although sadly all mine does is show I listen to nothing but The Fall , Bowie & The Clash at work

Now I can actually prove I listen to more than just Bright Eyes and Elliott Smith.

Cool, the Last Fm Top Artist Charts have been updated, awesome I've finally broken away from the Smiths! And my open mind index went up to 96! Oh and good job on Joining Roses youre finally one of the cool kids!
