Fuck it, this made me sad when I was three and it still makes me sad, even though it probably shouldn't:

Any of the last four tracks off of Joy Division's 'Closer' get my vote. Nick Cave's 'Lay Me Low' is a pretty sad song too. Other than those, Oasis' 'Sad Song' pretty much goes without saying

Blower's Daughter is a hell of a great (and sad) song.

I'll throw in The Background by Third Eye Blind. Not a band I listen to often, but if I need a song to absolutely numb everything, that would be the one.

What Sarah Said by Death Cab is also incredibly sad.

Default The saddest song ever; as follows,

The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald, Gordon Lightfoot

or

Sullivan, Caroline Spine... I couldn't choose... shoot me.

I always feel that maritime songs are the saddest, something about dying in water, bummer.

I love that song but it doesn't seem sad at all to me. In fact I find it kind of upbeat in a weird, irreverent way. It's funny how two people can have such different interpretations of the same song, but I guess that's art for you.
