Dead Can Dance

Anymore fans out there?

From Cosmic Left Feild... 01-13-2006 11:48 PM

No but I have potential, what do you think I would like?

Accipiter 01-13-2006 11:49 PM

Somethin' tells me you wouldn't like them o_O

From Cosmic Left Feild... 01-13-2006 11:53 PM

Well thats rather prejudice, why would you say something like that?

Accipiter 01-14-2006 02:57 PM

lol I don't mean it in a bad way, but i've seen you on other threads and what you liked. You might like DCD, but they're opera/haunting-ish music. Check them out and get back to me and we'll see. :)

Dead Can Dance tribute - any other fans?

A Dead Can Dance tribute track, a cover of 'Anywhere Out of the World' has been posted at post death soundtrack dot com.

For those of you who haven't heard Dead can Dance, look them up. They are a classic band. Buy these albums.

Dead Can Dance (1984)
Spleen and Ideal (1985)
Within the Realm of a Dying Sun (1987)
The Serpent's Egg (1988)
Aion (1990)
Into the Labyrinth (1993)
Toward the Within (1994)
Spiritchaser (1996)

Any other DCD fans on the board?

Also don't forget the Garden of Arcane Delights EP which came out between Dead Can Dance and Spleen and Ideal.

DCD's music is unbelievable. Every album pays more and more dividends every time you listen to it. There's such a wealth of beauty and complexity in the music. Fair warning though, if you don't enjoy world-music type sounds, you may not enjoy DCD's music, but I'd suggest at least giving the first album a shot.

Great band!

And subject the individual to one of the worst produced albums in their discography? :o:

Agree though. One of the great bands. Zarko and I have given their discography an extensive revue from here >> http://www.musicbanter.com/members-j...tml#post530338 onwards.

Perhaps, but it's also the most raw because of that.

And career wise raw they were not. I have no problem you liking it but it is not the album I would recommend to a newbie.

Have been to their concert two days ago. Overwhelmed.

Cool. Looking forward to this myself (not that they've announced their Melbourne dates yet). What happened to your pics?

I don't believe it. They announced one Australian date and it's in Sydney so that adds air fare to the ticket price. Been waiting all year for this and they announce one frigging date.

Howard the Duck 09-04-2012 06:00 PM

been meaning to get into them

where's a good place to start?

Stephen 09-04-2012 06:19 PM

I think Spleen and Ideal is one of my favourite DCD albums.

They have a new one Anastasis just released for their tour but I haven't heard it yet so can't really comment. They also had some free downloads on their site of some of their live material.

Howard the Duck 09-04-2012 07:26 PM

^^cheers

will get it soonest possible

Stephen 09-04-2012 08:53 PM

You can stream the new album from their site too.

Actually I'd recommend to start with a 2 disk best of album, Wake - a great compilation in my opinion.

Yay they finally announced a Melbourne date next Feb. Only down side is it's my wife's birthday and she's not a fan.

Stephen 02-06-2013 07:17 AM

Just saw their Melbourne gig tonight. Always loved them and was not disappointed. They both have such strong voices and they were great to see live.

PhD Researcher 02-06-2013 05:18 PM

Peter Ulrich, who played with DCD for some time has had some interesting releases over the past decade. DCD fans may like him.

So why does the second half of Within the Realm of a Dying Sun slap so much harder than the first?
