Concerts = sex.

So tell us about concerts you've been too.

I went to a Blindspott concert ages ago, was in the front of the moshpit and I was squished beside huge half naked guys, it was great!

I love going to gigs, it's fun sometimes to just jam with a drink and watch a band, or a group of guitar players playing simultaneously with eachother.

I just want to say that this year The Rolling Stones are coming to New Zealand and I'm going to do anything to go. Urban is going to the Stones as well, but I get to see them first. If I don't post again after the concert, it's because I orgasmed to death.

Urban Hat€monger ? 01-20-2006 06:46 PM

Well i`m off to see .....

Ah wait , never mind you said ;)

Laces Out Dan! 01-20-2006 06:47 PM

well i've been to quiet a few small gigs with local bands but the only big concert i saw was Chilliwack........They were great

half_baked87 01-20-2006 07:00 PM

warped tour is always a good time. and rise against put on an amazing show in ottawa at the capitol theatre, i felt bad thought because i'd been into them since their first album, and this was right after siren song came out, so everyone there was a 13 year old kid who loved swing life away, and i just ruiend them all in the moshpit. but then again, beating children always brings a smile to my face.

riseagainstrocks 01-20-2006 07:01 PM

Facedown Fest '05 was the best I've seen.

and on a related note, can we please stop comparing things to sex?

EDIT: Half Baked is my hero.

Scarlett O'Hara 01-20-2006 07:13 PM

Absolutely not! When I compare things to sex I am merely sharing that I feel pleasure with it, like I feel during an orgasmic experience! ;)

franscar 01-20-2006 07:28 PM

Apparently I'm off to Reading again this year, no doubt driving again as well.

Normally go to one or two gigs a month and go see my friends' band whenever they play, which is always a lottery of either very good, or shockingly awful support bands.

bungalow 01-20-2006 07:46 PM

Well, I have seen Norma Jean.....I avoided the pit for that one

I saw Flogging Molly.....I couldn't help but get in the pit for that one, I had to duck down to breathe

I saw NOFX....They were kinda lame, but it was still oh kay

I saw Anti Flag....worst band ever =)

I saw The Casualties.....They arent that great but, they were super fun to talk with after the show

I saw Rise Against.....amazing. I definitly got demolished in the pit.

I saw UnderOATH....They were pretty annoying. The screaming got on my nerves

I saw The Phenomanauts....They put on a great live show. The keyboardist shoots toilet paper at everyone

I saw The Teenage Harlots.....They were really good live, so I bought all of their CDs on the spot, and SUPRISE SUPRISE....they sucked. but the lead singer is really cool

And I've seen a ton of local bands, a lot sucky, some okay.

Then I saw the Foos one time. Didnt get to meet any of them though... =(

sleepy jack 01-20-2006 07:46 PM

Hmm, well my favorite concert i've been to was fear before they were amazing. Im really looking forward to seeing the blood brothers next saturday. Rise Against and Alexisonfire was fun, i loved seeing the bled. BTBAM was rad so was converge and i've seen millions of shows so yeah..Coheed and Cambria was amazing live.

riseagainstrocks 01-20-2006 07:52 PM

*isn't surprised everyone loves Rise Against's live show*

*also isn't surprised he was smart enough to choose riseagainstrocks as his sn*

Soundgardener 01-20-2006 08:56 PM

I hope to see Low sometime in March.

Cheese 01-20-2006 09:56 PM

Cool, I'd like to see both these bands.

Sabgoat 01-21-2006 12:10 PM

i've went to one concert.. well that i can remember.. when i lived in kitchener ONT when i was a kid, my mother and father took me and my brother to see the aerosmith concert.. but yes i don't remember it.. i bet it was amazing tho..

the one i do remember however is Celina.D she is from somewhere in T. ONT and came to my small town a few years ago, and well her music was very mellow, and kind arty small kaffee type music, but i really loved this one song she sang in Italian anyways so i got her tape (cause thats all they had done up) and that was the only song i liked.. not really surprised..

but other then those actual bands.. i've only ever seen school bands a few local ****ty bands around here.. all they do is covers.. not one of them actaully made there own songs..

MUST GET OUT OF THIS TOWN!

Ahahaha...omg, this is getting quoted!

Merkaba 01-22-2006 12:32 AM

I've been to an APC concert.

It was awesomeness. Josh and Maynard did this lame trick where Maynard drops a bottle of water and right as it impacts with the stage floor Josh uses his kicks and creates such a bassy vibration that the bottle bounces back up into Maynards hands.

Oh and the music awesome too, pretty flawless for a live performance.

missblueyes 01-22-2006 09:40 AM

concerts = can't live with out.

i been to several over the last few recent years.... talib kweli, rock the mic tour, the last 104 fest they had before hip hop took it over (evanescence & staind were there), john mayer in bridgport, dave matthews, blue man group (QUITE the performance!), the sprite tour (roots, talib, oar, n.e.r.d <~shoot me but i didn't like them at all, ended up leaving actually).....

other than that i cant remember the other ones....just the most recent one i went to was Jack Johnson in Brockton Ma. it was at a little school baseball feild, SO sweet!! ohhhhhh. and Dave Matthews this past november in NYC @ madison. That show rocked my world lol. i'm such a sucker for acoustic shyt!!

I saw Pearl Jam live a while ago. It was one of the best experiences of my life. Especially considering no bands ever come to my little ****hole of an island.

Didn't someone spunk on your back at the concert Phil?

I think you're confusing this with your experience at a Marilyn Manson concert.

Vai Is God 01-22-2006 01:57 PM

I saw Yngie Malmsteen not too long ago. It was like going to the sunset strip in the 80's. Plenty of shred solos, about 500 picks thrown into the audience, fog machines, colored spotlights, wall of Marshalls, the whole deal. I got there really early and had a front row seat. The only downside was that my ears were ringing all day afterwards.

ears ringin.... ahh the sign of a good time :)

IndiElectronica 01-24-2006 06:19 AM

well.. i've seen well over 500 bands... starting to make a list now and wouldn't be surprised if it tops 1000.... About half of them at Festis of course (where it's easy to see 10+ bands a day...)...

Best 3 concerts in the last year:

Mogwai - Saw them a few weeks ago - bloody amazing and VERY loud!

Arcade Fire - Best group I've seen in last few years... can't express how good they are live and recommend them highly enough

Soulwax - Seen them a few times the last year. Most consistently great live indie band on the circuit

I love the Arcade Fire. I certainly hope I get a chance to see them live. :)

missblueyes 01-24-2006 11:27 AM

I've always wanted to see 311 since they first came out, never get to tho...

SeaShells 01-24-2006 05:40 PM

I love going to concerts. some of the standouts are:

U2 -Zooropa (looking forward to the Vertigo tour too)
INXS (unfortunatly without Michael Hutchence :( )
R.E.M. (I was pleasantly surprised by how great this concert was)
Neil Diamond (seen him twice, not bad for an oldie. his music rocks!)
Noiseworks (Jon Stevens!!! what more can I say)

I've seen heaps of Aussie groups too but I won't mention them as no one will know them.

either/or 01-25-2006 02:17 AM

ahhh i recently went to the big day out on the gold coast. it was all sweet except for the fact that the power cut out halfway thru mudvaynes set. a mosh pit with lots of angry metal fans is not a safe place to be. the white stripes and franz ferdinand were awesome, but iggy went for way too long. i think hes a bit too old now, the crowd didnt really know much of his stuff.

MURDER JUNKIE 01-25-2006 02:17 AM

that is a crowd problem, not an Iggy problem

Bauhaus. Manchester Academy.

Last night...fucking awesome.

The minute I walked into the Academy, I knew this was going to be something special. The atmosphere was charged and the place was buzzing with anticipation.

From the off they kicked arse. The flow only being interrupted due to some dickhead launching a can of lager at Pete Murphy. Murphy returned the can, at speed in the general direction from where it came, to applause.
Nothing was going to spoil the night. If anything it increased the energy and excitement in the venue.

Highlights among many were...Dark Entries, She's In Parties, In The Flat Field, Terror Couple Kill Colonel.

Oncour's (sp?) were; covers of Joy Divisions, 'Transmission' (that brought the house down). Bolan's, 'Telegram Sam', Bowie's, 'Ziggy Stardust' and to finish the night perfectly, 'Bela Lugosi's Dead'.

This band's material from 1979-83 is nothing less than remarkable. What a shame they didn't produce more. Much like the Faulty Towers comedy series, all the better for it.

Like I said fucking awesome!
