Im hearing Voices

Imagine if you could sing...alas such is not to be true, but hey we can dream right?

If you could sing like any reasonably famous singer, who would it be and far far far more importantly, why?

And yeah you're real ****ing indie and underground but it would be super awesome if you didn't like you or your friends band or anything remotly anonymous. Theres a diffrence between underground and club filler.

explosions-in-my-pants 03-01-2006 11:40 PM

i don't like many female singers.. so this is hard.. liek berlin.. the chick from berlin she can really sing.. (i can really sing to actually and well to there songs.. but i can change my voice enough to fit most types of music) i have a very high voice, but i can change it enough to give it a deep sounding voice.. but only when singing type thing.. anyways yea..

but if i were in a band i would like to play guitar and lead singing.. but where that will never happen cause i don't have a guitar, and as much as i'd love to have one again i doubt i every will, and i'm way to shy to get up and sing in front of a lot of people..

Merkaba 03-02-2006 12:32 AM

I don't know man, I love many voices. This is pretty cliched of me since everyone knows I love the band but I really do appreciate Maynards voice. His voice is rock solid, it doesn't waiver or break when it goes too high, it doesn't whisper or pitch out of line when he sings softly and it doesn't gag or choke when he wants to let rip. It is an insanely well controlled voice.

I want a voice like Howard Jones (Killswitch Engage). although the vocal range he displays isnt the widest, its perfect for the type of music i play. he's amazing. singing, he just has this crystal clear operatic voice that cuts through anything, and his scream is just as powerful. he doesnt hit bad notes, his voice is solid. great all around singer.

Speak fo' yoself =D Anyway, I think my voice is that of an angel but for the sake of the thread. Anthony Green from Saosin/Circa Survive he can hit like such amazing high notes it makes me jealous, or davey havok for similar reasons. But anthony overall

Mr Sensitive 03-02-2006 11:53 AM

Bastard took my answer . Yes Jeff without a doubt had an amazing voice. But Jeff was one of these beautiful people in every way.

dog 03-03-2006 03:35 AM

jim morrison, hes not always on key though , but he sings really gritty. and maybe radioheads singer, on the acoustic version of 'creep' he sounds great.

MURDER JUNKIE 03-03-2006 03:43 AM

Shane McGowan, just once I would like to know what it feels like to be THAT drunk and slurry

Urban Hat€monger ? 03-03-2006 12:24 PM

Jagger

I want those moves when i`m in my 60s

Merkaba 03-03-2006 02:09 PM

^ Hey is his solo career any good? I have here, yet another cd from the olds collection, of Mick Jagger "She's The Boss". Haven't yet bothered to listen to it though.

Urban Hat€monger ? 03-03-2006 02:13 PM

Merkaba 03-03-2006 02:58 PM

Urban Hat€monger ? 03-03-2006 02:59 PM

Don`t listen to the album , but see if you can download the video to she`s the boss.

Just for the woman who farts fire

mosesandtherubberducky 03-03-2006 03:26 PM

Jello Biafra (spelling?), He has an odd voice and he uses it well. And then I could write songs about Jerry Brown :)

Laces Out Dan! 03-03-2006 07:37 PM

Its between 2 for me
Cedric Bixler-Zavala - The Mars Volta
Russel Allan - Symphony X

Ahh.....or Geddy Lee

TrampInaTux 03-04-2006 02:20 AM

Kurt Cobain, just to be able to have that mesmerising pain in my voice. I know it sounds a bit morbid, but when I listened to I know you're right I was taken aback by how much feeling he puts into all his songs.
And the Radiohead singer. Although I wouldn't want to look like him. Ugly f*ck.

Merkaba 03-04-2006 02:41 AM

Don't work about his looks hobo, I'd say he just had to sing Rape Me and he'd haul the ladies in. Good pick too by the way.

TrampInaTux 03-04-2006 03:01 AM

I'm sure singing Paranoid Android is the real way to pull them then? Kurt Cobain is psychotic in his lyrics, not the way he looks. The Radiohead singer is an ugly f*ck and sings about voices in his head? They're both weirdos, but at least Kurt looks half decent.

Lone Wolf 03-10-2006 04:20 AM

i like my own voice i think it rocks (i'm no being big headed) even though i do like amy lee's voice but her voice wouldn't suit me at least i hope it doesn't!

Sneer 03-10-2006 06:52 PM

either Thom Yorke or Jack White. yorkes because his vocal range is at times staggering, and whites because its just so damn kooky and raw.

Doc.DGAF 05-12-2006 07:37 AM

Either M.C.U.D., Wayne Static, Adam Levine, or Jamie Foxx.

Soundgardener 05-12-2006 05:31 PM

Les Claypool or Tom Waits

. . . or BOTH at the same time!

Blain 05-12-2006 05:42 PM

Chester Bennington, love Linkin Park and I love his voice none of it's studio he sounds great live and he can have a great loud intimidating voice and a softer voice if i coudl sing like him it would be sweet right down the track:)

stakeraiser 05-12-2006 10:01 PM

Tom Waits, that would be fun

Laces Out Dan! 05-13-2006 01:46 AM

I've narrowed it down to Cedric Bixler Zavala

Crowe 05-13-2006 03:32 PM

Gimme that Freddy Mercury voice... hold the AIDS, if you would.

boo boo 05-13-2006 03:39 PM

Dunno... Don't want to copy someones individual style... I would just mash a bunch of my favorite vocalists together to create my own voice.

And most of my favorite singers are of the non technical type, i think to have a voice like Thom Yorke would be sweet... Though a voice like Robert Plant, Kurt Cobain, Tom Waits, John Lennon, Roger Waters, Jimi Hendrix or Ian Anderson would also be nice.

I also envy the feminine voices of guys like Jeff Buckley, Cedric Bixler-Zavala, Todd Rundgren, Jon Anderson and Jón Þór Birgisson.

Laces Out Dan! 05-13-2006 09:48 PM

And Geddy Lee!!

Stone Magnet 05-13-2006 10:28 PM

Maynard James Keenan.

agree with him

Frances 05-14-2006 12:39 AM

I'd hope for a mix of:
Cedric Bixler-Zavala
Thom Yorke
Bowie
Jeff Buckley
Eddie Vedder

I do sing though, and do a reasonable impression of all of them.
