Thats 8 just from the post punk era

It shouldn't be too difficult to get Buffalo Tom , Jeff Buckley , Iron and Wine as well as Lou Reed & Nico's solo versions

I make that 13 versions of the same song.
Bryan Ferry also covered it.

If you're posting in the music forums make sure to be thoughtful and expressive, if you're posting in the lounge ask yourself "is this something that adds to the conversation?" It's important to remember that a lot of people use each thread. You're probably not as funny or clever as you think, I know I'm not.

White Lights equal with the Nico album for me, i just love the aggressive, choppy feel to it.

I'm with you on this one, and I'll go a step further and say that no one on that album (Reed, Cale, or Nico) ever came close to it, with the VU or solo.

I think as a band they are overrated, even though the VU & Nico album isn't.

I'd say that White Light/White Heat comes fairly close, it is much shorter but has some great hits as well. If they extended this album and went farther into the world of feedback then it would have been close. Velvet Underground and Nico is a large, filthy diamond though.

I could only sit through their other work when I'm stoned. However VU & Nico works for me when I'm sober also.
