I'm surprised no one has mentioned "Ocean" (the longer version, from the box set, with John Cale playing, not the Loaded version). I think that's VU's greatest song and quite perfect. On the candidate list for greatest song ever.

My top five VU songs:

1. Ocean
2. Candy Says
3. Sunday Morning
4. Venus In Furs
5. Pale Blue Eyes

The first two albums are nearly perfect. I could live without the others. Whose idea was it to have Doug Yule sing? (Rhetorical question)

I love the Velvet Underground. They are such a creative and inspiring band. I cringe whenver they crop up in conversation and someone says who. In my opinion they have had such an influence on modern music that everyone shold know them

I personally don't care for Lou Reed or John Cale's solo works. And I thought Loaded was okay, but everything in between and after pretty much sucked.

I have been coming around to john Cale lately. Paris 1919 is awesome.

VU and Nico is by far their best too me. Loaded is my second choice. I am one of those VU fans who does not like White Light White Heat

If you're posting in the music forums make sure to be thoughtful and expressive, if you're posting in the lounge ask yourself "is this something that adds to the conversation?" It's important to remember that a lot of people use each thread. You're probably not as funny or clever as you think, I know I'm not.

The only one I kinda like on that record is Who Loves The Sun. As for Sweet Jane and Rock n Roll I strongly perfer the versions on Lou Reed's solo live album American Poet.
