MC Lars

It's tough to say where he should go. He calls himself "post-punk laptop rap"

He raps, he was in a punk band, he's more than socially aware. Exposure for the man is more than needed. Heres why I think so (song suggestions):

iGeneration - is a clever collage of the pop fetishes of the ought's. "And people tried to put us down, when iTunes bumped a post-Cold War sound.
My generation sat the mecca of malls, Times Square, I'm there, Viacom installs.
So we hit the net while the Trade Center fell, New York met Hollywood, we ran like hell."

Signing Emo - A great emo sample fills the chorus, and the rest of the song uses emo plus-ins to illustrate why movements occur."The label pres. calls and yells, "Sign more emo!"
How about screamo? "If it sells, sign Nemo,"
"We're down 2%, and BMG knows,
My Daughter likes Dashboard, so get me one of those!"
"

Hot Topic is not punk rock - All you need to know are the following lyrics:"Hot Topic is a contrived identification with youth subcultures to manufacture an anti-authoritarian identity and make millions. The $8 you paid for the Mudvayne poster would be better spent used to see your brother’s friend’s band.

DIY ethics are punk rock
Starting your own label is punk rock
G.G. Allin was punk rock.

But when a crass corporate vulture feeds on mass-consumer culture, this spending mommy’s money is not punk rock!
"

He's brilliant, not because of his music but for what he stands for. 'Download this song' could possibly shake the music industry up. Who would have thought an artist would tell people to illegally download his song? Legendary.

Imonlydancing 03-18-2006 04:09 AM

i've heard him before.
What i heard i liked.
a few people i know love him.

Well didn't the offspring tell people to download one of their albums? People **** all over them for selling out but all the did was make pop music, they still stuck to the ethos.

TrampInaTux 03-19-2006 03:20 AM

No, they told people to steal their album.

No way because they had some promotional deal with Napster I believe.

yeah, the offspring are pro-download. I think we are on the verge of the artists rebelling against the recording industry and going indie! Pray for that one to happen folks!!

Oh right. I'm sure I saw a plain white Offspring album the other day called 'Steal this album'. But anyway, an album isn't going to get across the message as well as a single would do, especially a single dedicated to telling people to download it illegally.
