GWAR - Lust in Space

Some funny stuff on it. Good ol' GWAR.

Superb 60's inspired guitar pop a la Saint Etienne without the keyboards.

So unknown even Last.FM has no details on this artist which is criminal. A soul album with the emphasis on the music as muh as her voice. It spreads out into Jazz, Funk and Gospel whilst still keeping focus. A 60's cult gem definitely.

This cover looks like something far different form what I am expecting (looks like some mainstream Ibiza BS). Which is why this has been on my wish list for so long with no activity...until now.

Abstract Giants - Unearthed

http://groupeeinc.httpsvc.vitalstrea...46528wiboq.jpg

Couldn't find this anywhere so I buckled and bought a cheap mp3 copy of Amazon and it was worth every penny. You like funky jazzy hip hop then this is a group you can't ignore.

I haven't given it a listen yet but I have been digging LP5 lately, I'm trying to expand on my IDM taste.

I've been revisiting a lot of Autechre recently and I'm revisiting this one next. I've probably only played it twice since release. :o:

Props for the fIREHOSE too, I'm liking that album.

Haven't bought a new CD in a little while, but my birthday is approaching, as well as my nice big two job at once work checks again... so I am keeping my eyes open...

Freebase Dali 09-07-2009 09:42 PM

Thanks to Mojo, who graciously provided me the DL to an album I'd lost back in the late 90's, my latest download is:

http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/...500_AA240_.jpg

Again, thanks for the hookup brotha.
I bought that album at Virgin Record store in New Orleans back in 1998 or 99', fell in love with it and someone literally stole it from me. I'd never been able to track it down since.
It's what started me on Triphop and contains two of my favorite songs in the genre even to this day.

Big thanks to Mojo, and if anyone's interested in the album, drop a line.

Victory Guy 09-07-2009 09:51 PM

I'm currently in the midst of downloading Rob Zombie's Hellbilly Deluxe.

scottsy 09-07-2009 09:55 PM

Listening to Trail of Dead's Worlds Apart.... still holds up as a darn good album IMO!

Zen 09-08-2009 06:05 AM

Did my bi-weekly charity shop run to see their new vinyls, not a great deal.

Dire Straits 'Love Over Gold'
Rod Stewart 'Tonight, I'm Yours'
Ultravox 'Vienna'
Simon & Garfunkel 'Bridge Over Troubled Water'
Huey Lewis & The News 'Fore'
Elton John 'Too Low For Zero'

A classic and five other albums that could go anyway for me for £5, decent haul really. Bit upset that from 7 shops that's all I found with any interest.

Also ordered "The Resistance"....on CD obviously, since the vinyl is daylight robbery, Radiohead did practically the same thing, except added a bonus second disc for like half the price.

The Temptations - Sky's The Limit (1971)

A psychedelic soul opus full of miraculous music; can't believe I ever wrote The Temptations off as just mere Motown pop, cause they're pretty darn amazing.

Peter Gabriel - Up (2002)

Mr. Genesis-'Shock The Monkey' meets post-2000 Radiohead and births some rather wicked progeny. Me likey!!

Dead Can Dance - Within The Realm of a Dying Sun (1987)

Got this based on Zarko's thread, and I think it's fucking awesome on every count. I think I'll be checking out the rest of their discography reallllll soon!
