Kendrick Lamar - Good Kid, M.A.A.D City (2012) Giving this another shot, but I just don't like it. Naff production on a lot of the tracks, decent concept executed poorly and nothing INTERESTING happens. I like Yeezus despite it's flaws because it INTERESTS me, this just goes bye annoying the hell out of me. |

Kendrick Lamar - Section.80 (2011) Now, here's an interesting album. |

Quasimoto Yessir Whatever (2013) I had to get around to this eventually. It's really good. I know it's a bunch of Madlib's rare and unreleased Quas tracks, but I honestly couldn't tell you that if I didn't already know it, it flows so well. I don't have a lot to say about it. It's new Lord Quas, it's good, that's all I need to know. http://images1.buymusichere.net/imag...5660557012.jpg Bifrost Arts Come O Spirit! Anthology of Hymns and Spiritual Songs Volume 1 (2009) I'll just let the description from the record company speak for itself. It's good, it's quiet, it's meditative, it's mystical. It's everything spiritual music should be, with no similarities to the trash that so many Christians call "good music." For more than 30 years, pop music has suffered from a God complex—attaching a scarlet letter to artists who include the religious experience in their songs. But a new generation of musicians from across the spiritual spectrum is emerging, discarding the trappings of the Christian-culture industry to reintroduce the transcendence, beauty and historical gravity of western sacred music to the places where it belongs: dinner parties, road trips and back porches. Come O Spirit brings together artists like Dave Bazan, Damien Jurado, Rosie Thomas, Denison Witmer, The Welcome Wagon (featuring Sufjan Stevens) and Leigh Nash to revive 400 years of long-forgotten melodies and liturgical music. The brainchild of producers Isaac Wardell and Mason Neely, Come O Spirit interprets hymnody through lush, cinematic arrangements and a drop of Southern gothic mystique. It’s like a prayer. |

Anyways I totally derped on this back on Tuesday http://i46.fastpic.ru/big/2013/0623/...be38270d98.jpg Dessa - Parts of Speech (2013) I'm kind of hoping it's more of a loungey album like her Castor, the Twins EP was back in 2011. |

I see a bit of an animal face motif there.

I'm almost finished listening to this, but Iceage's debut seems a lot more raw, less polished than "You're Nothing". I obviously downloaded this because of their sophomore album, which blew me right the fuck away. Not too sure how I feel about this though, needs a few more listens to get a more sure opinion. http://assets.boomkat.com/images/203139/333.jpg I haven't listened to much Roy Montgomery, but I have a split with him and Flying Saucer Attack, and I'm really big on the latter. He keeps popping up in mentions from bands I'm fond of, so it was about time I gave one of his records a spin. |

Tesseract, 'Altered State.' Despite their revolving door of vocalists, this album is pretty damn sweet. I have to admit I am enjoying their new lead singer better than previous ones. Poly-rhythms and odd time-signatures (you know me...), but still a good groove throughout the album. I've only had it on for a couple of days now so I'm not sure how it will go for me after a little more time, we shall see... |

Just finished this, and I'm still trying to piece my thoughts together about it. I'm unsure, but since the records only 21 minutes long I might as well just listen to it again to better understand it. |

Madlib, gettin' hard and heavy. http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/51Q0MATN3TL.jpg Progressive soul/funk/hip hop/black power music. http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/51v6PUS7NYL.jpg Funky soul with lots and lots and lots of instruments. Give me a disco-ballad vibe every once in awhile. http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/51Bx2nsBpRL.jpg Modern jazz fusion with some surprising twists. And now I'm listening to... http://www.soundstagedirect.com/medi...experience.jpg Jneiro Janel and others, goin' hard. I'm just in a funky mood right now. |
Atmosphere - The Family Sign
(Yeah so I am not so up to date when an artist I like comes out with a new album!) |

http://www.albumoftheyear.org/album/covers/frank.jpg I can tell this is hardly like Back To Black, but I still like it a lot. She sings much better on Back To Black though. She almost sounds like a little girl, as opposed to Black where her soulful crack voice is much more mature. |
The last album I bought was Jal's Boondh, way back in 2007...

Why would I listen to an album with such an awfully tacky album cover? Because it has the amazing 12 Inch remix of 'I Feel Love' on it. A song that single handedly did more for electronic music than an entire boatload of Kraftwerk albums. |
or how about just simply because Donna Summer was the shit.....I Feel Love always reminds me of Throbbing Gristle or at least Chris Carter :)
continuing my Krautrock education....and i honestly think i found a new favorite in the genre http://www.oocities.org/krautrockgro...PhallusDei.jpg Amon Düül II - Phallus Dei review....wow, where have you been all my life, and LOOK they have a huge catalog!!!!! finally got my copy of the new Position Parallèle album http://www.tesco-distro.com/catalog/images/hr110lp.jpg Position Parallèle - Néons Blancs much darker than their first album.....but still very danceable syth pop tracks with a slight sadistic edge....i really like hearing Geoffrey's less militant side....but i'm sorry this in no way compares to last years Dernière Volonté album |

Sulk - Graceless (2013) A shameless early-90's baggy/Britpop throwback but they have some seriously good tunes. I feel it has something that has been missing in British indie music for a number of years - that distinctive confidence and swagger that's unmistakably British. However I do feel their execution and over-indulgence in nostalgia prevents this from being anything special. A solid debut none the less, imagine The Stone Roses if Ian Brown could actually sing and The Second Coming wasn't shit. |

Finally giving this a try. I absolutely love it. |

Glitch Pop is not really a genre but it best describes this very mellow electronic Pop album with Hip Hop overtures. Thanks to my eldest for the reco! http://t2.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:A...T5tLTfY3C34Q3s Very cool retro jungle with some serious bass heavy sounds. Brilliant to work too! |

Weekend - Red EP I mainly got this because of the fact that it's from Slumberland, comes in a red vinyl sleeve, and it's a GOLD SPLATTERED CLEAR RECORD! Oh, and I gave a few of the songs a listen and was like, filling out shipping and payment info already. So, yeah, I can't wait to get this in the mail. http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedi...lbum_cover.jpg Boards of Canada - Trans Canada Highway This was the last (widely available) Boards of Canada release I did not have digitally yet, but I'm really glad I got it, "Skyliner" has been on repeat for a good half hour or so. Dem synths, dat bass drum, so good. |
Therese Aune - Billowing Shadows, Flickering Light
http://userserve-ak.last.fm/serve/50...ring+Light.jpg Gorgeous album, subtle, haunting and she has a beautiful voice. Highly recommended. |

It's refreshing to hear some political punk, especially when it's better than you expect. |

Three very different albums today.
Aye Nako - Unleash Yourself http://m5.paperblog.com/i/56/568638/...-L-YylMsL.jpeg I haven't gotten to this one yet, but I really enjoyed their demo from a few years back, it has a garage punk feel to it, sloppy but fun. The Uncluded - Hokey Fright http://www.thesoundsnews.com/wp-cont...ht-300x300.jpg I admit that I only got this because I like Kimya Dawson and Aesop Rock individually, I didn't really give it a thought about how they would be together, but I enjoy it, it's unusual, it's fun, and it's a combination of two great genres that don't get combined often. She & Him - Volume 3 http://www.rockcellarmagazine.com/wp...-300-x-300.jpg I have Volume 1 and Volume 2 and I know exactly what I'm getting with this album, it'll be casual, it'll be light and it'll be full of summery songs about heartbreak because that's what Zooey Deschanel always does, and does well. |
