Meds is a pretty good track as well, too bad the rest of the album blows.

Meds is on of my favorites from that album. I actually liked a lot of that album.

Schizotypic 04-07-2009 05:21 PM

Back when I only used to listen to songs I loved this band, and I haven't had a chance to listen to any full albums yet. But I will! I have their discography. Totally going to get this album.

csokisuti 04-08-2009 01:27 AM

I love this band :)

PinkCigarette 04-08-2009 03:20 PM

WOW, I haven't heard Placebo in a long time. They just kinda fell off the map for me. I haven't heard of anything new from them, though. I'll have to check it out.

FaSho 04-08-2009 03:25 PM

Another great trck: Their cover of "Running up That Hill" gawd damnnnnnnnn

That songs great. I like Placebo. I like to listen to them when I'm feeling ****ed up.

scottsy 04-09-2009 04:44 PM

I actually find them kinda relaxing to listen to for the most part... lots of little mellow interludes between songs that are more rocking.... their albums usually come across pretty well balanced in that way!

taper jean girl 04-13-2009 11:42 AM

I lov Placebo :) My fave song is Nancy boy and the best of has almost anything you could want :D (Once more with Feeling)

opheliac_jenny 04-13-2009 04:41 PM

i likee pure morning by them!
<3
sickkk song

Mirrorball95 04-14-2009 08:00 AM

I like Placebo, they aren't as bad as people used to always tell me they were, I have their albums 'Placebo' (1996) & 'Black Market Music' (2000). (Neither of which I really think are that great but not by any means bad.)
The thing about Placebo is when you're listening to them it's always in the back of your mind that the lead singer is a tranny.

Casimir 04-14-2009 08:52 AM

I only like Meds(the whole album), the other stuff is really boring.

I havent heard the Meds album, but I agree that they are pretty boring, its not that their music is unberable or that i cant listen to it, just I would rather listen to something else uno?

3sAnd7s 06-08-2009 11:01 PM

Battle for the Sun is out, anyone given it a listen?

RoXoR 06-08-2009 11:27 PM

Yeah been listening to it a bit, still think it is a long way off their best, but it's still better than Meds.

By far my favourite songs are Battle for the Sun, Kitty Litter and Ashtray Heart.

Arya Stark 06-09-2009 06:10 AM

I just started listening to it right now. They did amazingly with this. His voice hasn't done anything but get better. The music is more defined. Ahhh, <3

zeppy111 06-09-2009 09:04 AM

"black market music" was the standout in the discography. A discography which I enjoy very much.

scottsy 06-09-2009 09:18 PM

I always kinda thought Black Msrket Music was a b,it weaker, personally... and it had that fairly poor track with the rapper on it..... which just didn't do it for me.

I have actually found Meds to be quite a great album... one of their best!

Necromancer 12-04-2012 05:20 PM

Could someone give me the title of this song by Placebo? Kinda into his music at the moment and Ive been trying to remember the name of this song for some time now. I have a weak live recording of this particular song, I definitly need to get some material by Placebo indeed.

First line, 1st verse:

I hear you on the ra..dio..You turn me in my sk..in..

Mid Chorus: (Your No Jesus)..

? Thanks!

That's not Placebo, that's 'Megalomaniac' by Incubus.

If you want to check out some Placebo though get this album:

Man, that was KILLING me...I thought it was Incubus hahaha.

I thought I must be a really lame Placebo fan for not knowing what he was talking about...

While I'm here, does anyone have any thoughts on new Placebo? I think they kinda lost the magic after Sleeping With Ghosts.

Haha I had to think for a while too, "you turn me in my skin" seems like typical Placebo lyrics to me, but then I remembered what the chorus was.

I haven't even checked out any of their new songs, they're a band I've sort of lost faith in. Meds wasn't too bad but Battle For The Sun was terrible, that album made me give up hope. I still think their first three albums are the most essential.

I completely agree. Without You I'm Nothing still gets positive reactions from people when I put it on...I'm always surprised at how few people have actually listened to this band.

Anyway, they just put out a new EP and it's basically another Battle For The Sun...very sad.

Necromancer 12-06-2012 03:02 PM

Wow! Megalomaniac by Incubus. The vocals especially sounds so much like Placebo. Even the music. And all this time..

Thanks guys.

You think Incubus sound like Placebo? As soon as Brian Molko starts to sing, you know it can only be Placebo.

Strangely enough just the other day, I sent a cycling clip to a friend of mine and the soundtrack is from Placebo and it just goes so well with the clip.

It seems to be the Placebo album of choice with fans around my neck of the woods, it still stands up as their best album to me. There's still quite a few fans over here but it can be hard to notice them at times these days, some of my friends love them though.

Yeah I don't think I'll give that new EP a listen, I've heard nothing but negative responses to it.

No problemo. I used to to listen to a bit of Incubus back in the day but not anymore.

Face 12-06-2012 03:27 PM

I just can't get into placebo's vocals.

It's so...

I know I'll be shot down here, but it reminds me of nasal, american teen, blink182, style singing.
"fearrrr, around herrrrre"
with a real eeee-rrrrrre sound on the r's.

Just puts me off, which is a shame because the music sounds good to me.

Haha, yeah the vocals seem to be the deciding factor for a lot of people. I don't think the way Brain Molko uses his voice is really that similar to bands like Blink 182, but I can see why some people can think that. It's the same with the Smashing Pumpkins, it's the vocals that seems to divide peoples' opinions.

Necromancer 12-06-2012 04:51 PM

I'm familiar with a few of Placebos popular singles from back in the day, don't really remember the title to any of them except Pure Morning. I can understand why some listeners would be turned off by the vocal style.

That is a good example comparing Placebo vocals to the Pumpkins ZerO. Ive noticed the same thing with a lot of people that dislike U2 for that exact reason (vocals).

Face 12-07-2012 11:27 AM

There's one pumpkin song I like, end of the beginning of the end of yadda yadda. The vocals work there IMO.

Grogsy 01-15-2014 09:10 PM

Been listening to this a lot lately from their latest album.

Stumbled upon the fact the women on the cover of Placebo’s Without You I’m Nothing are actually a photographer and art director duo these days called BLAG magazine.

Massive load of photos including Pharrell, Bono, Beastie Boys, Jack White, Lupe Fiasco…it’s an insane list and they’re both recovering from a major bike accident. Go support them!

Can’t even imagine the stories they must have to tell.
