IMO a sell out is when a band/artist comprises their sound and what made them likeable to become radio friendly this usually happens after signing to a major label but doesn't always happen then.

i know what i consider a sell out,...thanks,...
i was just wondering what y'all would consider a 'sell out'

texas has a very rich and thriveing music scene and throughout the years i've seen some of my favorite bands go from playing dive bars for a five dollar cover charge,......to sellin out huge stadiums (ex crosscandian ragweed)

i've heard many people on the circut say they consider bands startin to make 'money' sell outs,....and this saddens me,.....

when a band signs with a major label, they both open up more mainstream exposer to that 'scene',.......and they leave a spot open for some other up and comming band,.....

i dont think we should shun them for that,...they are just tryin to pay their bills and feed their families just like anyone else,........and if you dont like the new sound,.....find another band

I think that there are some good mainstream acts, but they get played out so fast by the mainstream media. You can't beat the newness and the huge selection of underground. for every good mainstream act, 100 undergrounds are born.

that's pretty non-specific. do you prefer underground singer-songwriters (william fitzsimmons, nick drake, ect.), or do you prefer mainstream singer-songwriters (john mayer, ect.)?
