Who influenced your music taste?

Greetings earthlings!
Just wondering what everyone used to listen to growing up and who influenced your music taste?
My mum listened to a lot of Queen, the beach boys and the Beatles when I was growing up and for some reason Rod Stewart was always playing in the car! Dadio's music taste is ****e so I wont bother going into that.
Suppose my biggest influence came from my older siblings. The were into Blur, Oasis, Smashing Pumpkins, The Smiths, Ash, that kind of thing...
So yeah...your turn!

Random friends got me into music, like blink & the misfits and shiz.
Then ArtistInTheAmbulance got me intro like, Thrice and thursday and stuff which led me to get into all the emo/hardcore i'm into now. She also, sort of got me into the faint a bit, in a way.
Then I found the rest myself.

No Doubt.

My first love. In 1994. Like second grade I was listening to the self titled album.

Then Red Hot Chili Peppers.

I started out so solid.....what in the world could have happened?

Though I was raised on Reba, Leann Rimes, and Billy Ray Cirus. I now hate country.

Ohhh....

Well, I was brought up around classical and jazz music, but it's only really starting to have an effect now. My sister and I have quite similar tastes in music, so I probably got the Light rock influence from her. The heavy side I got from one of my best frineds, who I've known since I was one, so he may as well be a brother! I got into alternative stuff before he did, but he passed me out and intoduced me to a load of stuff.

I had to commute with my mom back and forth from work when I was like four and the only thing that I could really do at her work was listen to the radio. Then I didn't really care about music untill I was like 10 and I just stole my parents radio and put it in my room. And since I was 12 I've just ran into different people on the internet who've shaped my tastes.

The first stuff I was ever into was Dave Matthews Band and Smashing Pumpkins (from my brother) and Pink Floyd and The Beatles (from my dad). Then I heard my first hardcore band, I htought they where hardcore at the time, actually metalcore, and since then i've been into hardcore and emo and now more into post hardcore and prog.

i'd have to say my oldest brother got me into a lot of the music i still listen to today. pantera, alice in chains, bad religion, smashing pumpkins, local H, nirvana etc. etc. my dad used to listen to pink floyd and moody blues a lot, but now he's all gospel all the time. what really opened my eyes though was when i started playing guitar and joined a band. i started listening to blink and sum41 and that kind of stuff, and that progressed to more punk rock like nofx, millencolin, rise against and so on. after that, i started getting into pretty much everything that i would call "real music". nothing pisses me off more than fake rap, fake metalcore (way too much of this **** going on). my friend ashley got me into portishead and other weird ****, and thats aboot it. story of my life

Well it started off as me being a Linkin Park fanboy, then I started loving System of a Down as well as LP. Then I bought Adema's first 2 albums. I then started getting into a bit of heavier stuff i.e Soulfly, Slipknot. I had always liked The Offspring then I put their albums on my computer and BAM I was here and I have been introduced to many bands here here.

I'm now into anything from thrash metal to hardcore and I have people here to thank for that:D
