Poll, dummies.

Who here can read actual music vs. tabs?

[MERIT] 12-18-2006 10:53 PM

I used to be able to read piano music, thats about the extent of it.

hiu 12-18-2006 10:58 PM

Anyone who plays an instrument should be able to read music.

DearJenny 12-18-2006 11:07 PM

Not nescessarily.

Bullshit.

I've been playing guitar for 6 years and can say without hesitation that I am good at what I do. I can't read music. I just taught myself how to play.

Alo 12-19-2006 09:57 AM

Tabs, I'm a noob.

NaNaNer 12-19-2006 10:00 AM

Being able to play 7 different musical instruments I sure can read sheet music and right music in the same format.

Alo 12-19-2006 10:01 AM

^ Which instruments do you play?
And are you good at it, or is all you can play father jacob?

NaNaNer 12-19-2006 10:08 AM

1.Flute
2.Bb Clarinet
3.Alto Clarinet
3.Alto Sax*
4.Guitar (mostly acoustic)
5.Violin**
6.Piccolo
7.Harmonica*

*not great at but can play decently...more then a few notes and songs..the rest I can play very well and practice daily..the flute being my fav.
**just started taking lessons about 2 months ago..but I totally dig it.

No shame in my game..

Alo 12-19-2006 10:16 AM

Cool, I wish I had begun learning how to play when I was younger.

NaNaNer 12-19-2006 10:20 AM

Well the biggest reason I learned so many was I had to rent the instruments from the bad dept in school and I was only allowed one instrument per month..and I would get the "leftover" instruments..like piccolo,Alto Clarinet,Tenor Sax..

Blain 12-20-2006 12:35 AM

I read music for piano and drums. Tabs fpor guitar

littleknowitall 12-20-2006 04:57 AM

Tabs, but if i dont learn sheet music over christmas i'm boned for my course in college so it'll soon have to be both.

Spike*Spiegel 12-20-2006 11:39 PM

strictly sheet music

Raine 12-24-2006 02:50 PM

sheet music for flute, guitar, paino, and clarinet.

I've never found myself in a position to use tabs but I'll be honest and say I hate having to read music for a performance.
