quick question
can anyone think of any punk or post-punk or other generally abrasive bands that feature a violin? the only ones coming to mind are Velvet Underground and the Raincoats, but I could swear I know a couple others.
any help would be appreciated also, i've been looking for John Cale - Sabotage/Live for at least two years, if anyone has it |
Um, alot of punk fans love World Inferno Friendship Society, but I wouldn't consider them punk.
Thats really all I can think of. Also, I havn't listened to them in forever so they may not even use a violin. |
aren't they that sort of mainstream ska-punk band? i think i had the opportunity to see them once but wasn't too impressed with what i heard
I've only heard Friend To The Friendless, it didn't sound that punk, or ska at all. I try and stay away from saying what is and isn't ska though because i'm probably totally off.
i think what i heard had a trumpet. i could be thinking of someone completely different though.
irrelevant. i'm looking for something noisy and fast that's bound to piss people off ( i want to put on a performance at school ) |
John Cale played the Viola. That accounts for the violin-like sounds you hear in the first Velvet Underground record.
Yeah, I know. Violin, viola, meme difference.
Play some Ex-models and just add a violin part.
I'm flirting with the idea of playing "European Son," God that would piss people off.
why.. i liek that song
