Alright, I realise that there are a multitude of bassists out there that may have more talent than Simon Gallop, but when you hear a song by The Cure, you hear 3 distinct tracks that are literally the essence of the music: Robert's voice, Simon's bass-line, and Porl/Robert's/etc. guitar lines. I'll give you some great examples of where you would hear Simon's bass where it reflects his talent the most:

I'm also a fan of Kim Deal. She really does make The Pixies what they are...it's not all Frank Black/Black Francis that makes their music what they are.
