I want something Irish.

I can't explain why, but I've been having a distinct hunger for music of an Irish flavor lately. The problem is I'm completely ignorant when it comes to Irish music of any sort and I'm not certain about where I should begin. I trust there's an ethusiast around here somewhere to help me out. If you can, please do so.

Thanks in advance to any help you, the reader, may offer me.

MURDER JUNKIE 03-29-2007 04:34 AM

^you're kidding right??

Mad Caddies are about as Irish as Johnny Cash

enemyat_thesix 03-29-2007 10:12 AM

but they sing of bar brawls and drinking.

which make me think of Irish rapscallions.

If you want something more traditionally irish try Clannad.

Failing that try Thin Lizzy.

Channel One...on it's way. :)

Maybe I should go through that entire list & name & shame all the plastic paddys on that list.

Bono may be a c*nt but at least he's a real Irish c*nt.

* Bono (real name: Paul Hewson), lead singer of U2

Real Paddy...with a c*nts name. ^

I was pretty impressed with this band when I saw them, they were different and went down well with the Manc crowd.

Nathan Explosion 04-06-2007 07:50 PM

Flogging Molly, Dropkick Murphy's and the new Corr's album would probably be enjoyable to you.

jackhammer 05-30-2007 02:33 PM

Marxman are a great politically edged rap band with Irish tinged melodies. They are from Bristol U.K not Ireland as reported in an early post.

The Irish Front. lol.

josemaki 05-31-2007 12:06 PM

Someone already mentioned them, Altan is a great Irish folk band... I'd start with "The blue idol", great album.

Fave song: "Caide Sin Don Te Sin" from the "Runnaway sunday" album, soothing vocals, good production, great lyrics, and overall beautiful song.
