British Rock bands...

What is it with hardily any decent British rock bands coming through at the moment. Everyone and their dog has a band but hardily any are exciting at all.

my favourite 2 at the moment are these; myspace.com/thezicochain
and
myspace.com/untitledmusicalproject

Urban Hat€monger ? 04-19-2007 10:46 AM

Would you like to expand on that?

baker 04-19-2007 10:52 AM

both incredibly exiting live, and just amazing tracks. can't believe both of them mnake so much noise for a 3 piece.

just hate the way that British media seems unable to like British bands, and always have to back american bands.

Are there any other British bands you like?
And could you expand on reasons for liking like them?

Other bands, really into a band called Ghost Of Thousand from Brighton. It's quite full on and agressive and really gives you a kick in the arse.

Loving the new Biffy stuff cos it's got great rif***e.

Another new band called Outcry Collective again sound absoutly great.

Bascially i don't think British music has been up to it for the past few years but there seems to be a re-emergence of great new bands just making the music sound really refreshing.

DeadHeliX 04-20-2007 03:26 AM

My personal opinion is that nost of the bands are indie, and i dont like indie. Thats my own opinion. i think britain needs a few metal bands..

baker 04-20-2007 03:46 AM

alrite then, check out Silicon Vultures and Sanzen

Sound Devastation 04-20-2007 08:17 AM

eurgh.. you've named all my most hated british bands. Sanzen?! can you get more BLAND than ETID rip-offs? Ghost of a Thousand are average at best.

You need to listen to:
Sika Redem
Flatlands
The Mirimar Disaster
Chariots
Sons of Alpha Centauri
Kaddish
Archives
Rainyday****parade
Trencher
Take a Worm for a Walk Week
What Price, Wonderland?
Aotea
Manatees
Zonderhoof
Analysis of Bison Kills
The Clauberg Opera

etc etc etc...

Visit Birmingham. It will probably convince you that Britain should never be allowed metal bands ever again. There's about 1000 metal bands in this city and in my opinion they're all rubbish. There's a particularly large number of 'classic' rock and 'classic' metal bands, who use that word as if it were a good thing. Nobody should ever play retro and this counts a hundred fold for people who are going to play retro but somehow make the music a whole lot crapper...Led Zepellin may have been from the West Midlands, but they did not use just two chords through an entire song, they didn't play out of time and with no dynamic variation and THEY WEREN'T FAT... so you're not Led Zepellin, guys.

P.S. You seem to have completely changed your opinion between posts, baker. First there are lots of British bands and no exciting ones, then there's lots of exciting ones which nobody has heard of. Which is it?????

im loving british music atm

Trencher
With Scissors
Orion Arm
Bad For Lazarus
Throats
Humanfly
Whores Whores Whores (rip)
Take A Worm
Rolo Tomassi
Narcosis
Errander

to name a few

adidasss 12-03-2008 10:50 AM

Are any of those going to be at all significant?

Welcome back btw...:)

Sneer 12-03-2008 11:09 AM

Rolo Tomassi are going places, they've had some really decent support slots and a lot of press coverage considering they are a spazzcore band. Good stuff though.

Apart from that i doubt it. Trencher are pretty **** hot around about town but their music will never appeal to a mass audience. Thats not really important though, its just refreshing to have these bands knocking about.

Youthmovies are another band im liking a lot atm, they'd be more your thing, though i'd imagine you've heard them already?

adidasss 12-03-2008 11:38 AM

I haven't been following the British scene lately to be honest. I'll check them out, thanks...;)

Grief, all of those bands (perhaps with the exception of Narcosis) are absolutely terrible, playing some of the most generic, uninspired, old-formula music under the sun. There's a good reason why they (and other British bands of their ilk) have failed to impress on any notable scale, and that's for the simple reason that they're just not particularly good.

Sneer 12-03-2008 12:20 PM

I obviously couldnt disagree with you more, in fact what you say is just perplexing. I dont see a reason to justify why i like the music i like though so all i'll say is,

do something constructive and put up a list of your own.

CalRog 12-03-2008 07:56 PM

I like the kooks and razorlight alot, but those bands are kinda old and more well known now.

Lmao

In my opinion the only great bands Britain has produced in the last 20 years are Electric Wizard, Biffy Clyro (well they used to be good), Therapy? and Million Dead (they were great while they lasted).
