When we went to Newfoundland in 2006 all we listened to was "The Best Of Creedence Clearwater Revival".

I could see how Creedence would be good driving music though - they have a kinda free flowing sound that would take well to high speed travel...

"Fortunate Son" was made for highway driving.

I've found that playing "Detroit Rock City" is not conducive to driving at the speed limit.

"Cotton Fields", "Bootleg", and "Walk On The Water" were favorites of mine.

Petty is fantastic for traveling. Although if your in the city the music is ruined. Best for the those long country roads.

REM - Drive!!!

scottsy 01-12-2009 10:08 PM

Actually I found all of Automatic for the People very soothing when I was driving through city traffic alot - it has a way of pervading the senses and mellowing me out enough to stave off even the worst of road rages... it also happens to be one of my favorite albums of all time!

Kayachi 01-12-2009 10:21 PM

The Doors

scottsy 01-12-2009 10:46 PM

No offense intended, by I so completely over the Doors and Jim Morrisions faux - attempts poetry...

... it's all a bit overrated in my not so humble opinion...

I only listen to lowkey stuff in the car, like slower classical pieces and bands I don't really get into, like the Fray and Coldplay. See, when I listen to music I really like and really get into, I instinctively tap my foot. Which happens to be on the acceleration pedal. Problem? Hell yes.

scottsy 01-12-2009 11:10 PM

I can see how that would be a problem... "officer, honestly, its only because I really like the song..."

DearJenny 01-13-2009 01:05 AM

Depending on my mood I listen to a lot of ambient, relaxing indie, or I listen to upbeat techno.

When I lived in Wyoming I had this little piece of crap Toyota with a tape player and the only cassette I had was Journey... good times.

Sigur Ros. Driving around late at night when it's raining with "()" in will change your life.
