What music do I like?

Ok, hope there's some experts out there. I like music a lot, but have quite a limited music collection based mainly on well-known/always on the radio type bands. I need some pointers to broaden my collection, I know there's some pretty great bands out there, not only present ones but those from 60's 70's etc, but I don't understand how you're supposed to get into their music, I don't have time to watch music channels all day/ read NME magazines. So based on what I give you below, tell me what category you would put my tastes into, and direct me to some bands/albums which you think I'll be pretty certain to like and I'm currently missing out on. Thx!

Artists I have more than one album (favourite bands):
U2, Oasis, The Killers, The Coral, Snow Patrol, Coldplay

Artists I have one album:
Keane, Razorlight, Embrace, The Kooks, Kaiser Chiefs, The Streets, Jack Johnson, The Verve

Artists I have greatest hits/best of albums:
The Police, Dire Straits, Beatles, REM, Michael Jackson, Elton John, Blur, Lightning Seeds, Green Day, Feeder, Travis

Sounds like you would enjoy some of the more classic indie/alternative, mostly British.

I'll give you some great CD's of artists that influenced most of the newer artists you list

The Smiths - Singles (give this a chance, once you're hooked, go for the rest of the albums)
Stone Roses - Stone Roses
The Clash - London Calling, or a good best of
Echo & The Bunnymen - whatever best of you can find
Psychedelic Furs - Greatest Hits
Depeche Mode - Violator, Black Celebration, Songs of Faith and Devotion, or get the singles collections

There's a start anyways, hope you enjoy

Get some Sigur Ros and My Bloody Valentine. You could just get more post-rock in general.
