Music Recommendation?

I don't know what genre this is considered to be, but I kinda like some of the rock/classical (symphony) hybrid sound. One I've liked for a while is Beethoven's Fifth by the Trans-Siberian Orchestra. What got me to consider looking more into this is the new water commercial with 50-Cent conduction the National Symphony...Are there other artists/groups doing this sound?
Thanks

I'm not completely sure what you're looking for, but bands like Godspeed You! Black Emperor kinda have a rock/classical sound, I guess. I haven't listened to Trans-Siberian Orchestra, so I have no idea if Godspeed is the kind of sound you're looking for, but I thought I'd throw that out there.

Yeah, a lot of post-rock seems to have some classical influence in it.

The Pirate Ship Quintet >>>> Yndi Halda. not my words.

anyway, maybe some soundtracks - The Fountain OST for example, beautiful piece of classical music played by the Kronos Quartet and post-rock band Mogwai, directed by Clint Mansell.. good stuff.

Try out Apocalyptica for a metal cover band using only cellos. They sound wicked!

I'm with Larkrise and must definitely say Apocalyptica!

You mean the musical project is directed by Mansell? The film is directed by Darren Aronofsky, with whom Mansell worked with on the REQUIEM FOR A DREAM soundtrack (which is superb). Mansell first band POP WILL EAT ITSELF are a personal fave of mine, but they sit in a late 80's electronic/rock/indie bracket, and would'nt appeal to all. I have been out drinking with Mansell way back (late 80's) and found him to be a guy with ambitions, which I hope he has realised.

I'm not sure if this fits, but you can usually catch some pretty cool shows of orchestras/symphonies covering songs in the citys.
I saw the Charlotte Symphony redo some pink Floyd tunes in a laser light show.
Definitely a cool show man.
