Van has probably my favorite voice ever, he does make it sound so easy and natural and has unbelievable range and feel. ****er is also a tremendous vocalist who gives me chills, but as you mentioned he never created his own music at anywhere near the level Van did.

I've seen both live, Van nearly 20 times and ****er a handful, both go into intense spasms as they sing which are so natural and sincere that they almost make me weep. To see so much passion poured into the music is just fucking beautiful.

I agree on everything except the range part. He's very good in all other technical aspects, but the range he displays in his singing(It's probably 1/2 and octave better) is about 2. Which is a good deal less than I can sing. He has an acceptable falsetto, but its nothing special. Can't compare to Marvin ***e or Justin Timberlake. But there's a lot more to singing than range.

If you listen to the entire catalog you'll see he demonstrates the ability to cover any sort of octave quite proficiently.
