2007 vs. 2006

I have to say, i think 2007 has been a far better year in the way of new music. So many more albums have come out this year that i thought were wonderful.

What do you think?

sleepy jack 10-26-2007 01:40 AM

I'm going to have to agree, 2007 has been fantastic so far and it's not even over yet. I found 2006 to be rather dry. I may type up a list of my 25 favorite albums from each of these two years.

=ladyface= 10-26-2007 03:05 AM

Difficult. In 2006 I bought a lot of singles but not so many albums; this year I've bought far more albums than singles.

I think I'll go for 2006 because I was really paying attention to current music last year. This year I have managed to keep up to date as much as possible but I've been concentrating more on artists from the past.

The Dave 10-26-2007 08:13 AM

I went through my library and realised how many great albums did come out this year: Page France, Radiohead, Okkervil River, Seabear, Emily Haines (ep), Devendra Banhart and so on. Such a great year.

Sound Devastation 10-26-2007 08:52 AM

i always have trouble remembering which albums were 07 and which were 06... i do know 07 has been better though, if only for the releases on SD!

holdyoualways 10-26-2007 09:25 AM

mmmm i dunno, im kind of tied up with 06 & 07
i think 07 may have been a teeeeeensy bit better

DearJenny 10-26-2007 10:51 AM

This year has been awesome for music, both recorded and live.

swim 10-26-2007 07:24 PM

Last year is when I started to really dig deep into music so there's slight sentimental value always and forever and there are hundreds of good albums but this year hasn't been anything less than great.

mr. goth glam 10-26-2007 10:47 PM

I'm gonna go with 2007 by a slight margain.

MoonlitSunshine 10-27-2007 04:36 PM

I'm gonna go with 20013/2

:P

I think I'm safe in saying that if I take the average of both years, I come out with something pretty decent...

Right?

CalebG 10-30-2007 09:45 PM

I dont know why, but i kinda like some of his music. In the right setting it sounds good, and lot of his beats/rhythms are kinda clever. Doesn't have a bad voice either.

Every time I hear a new JT single, I like it for the first week, and then it is played on the television and radio so much that I just don't like it anymore.

Wayfarer 10-31-2007 06:46 AM

Stop listening to the radio and watching television.

And live under a rock?

Merkaba 10-31-2007 03:16 PM

No, no, "crawl out from under the rock" would be the more appropriate sentence.

I like 2007 on the whole. Certainly has been better overall, although 2006 had a couple of personal favourites.

anticipation 11-04-2007 09:40 AM

kidcrash's "jokes" came out in 07.

that's why i picked it.

Inuzuka Skysword 11-04-2007 10:22 AM

Tool hasn't come out with a new album this year so i am going to have to say 2006. Though it was expected they wouldn't.

Plus 2006 created;

In Absence of Truth - Isis
Ashes Against the Grain - Agalloch
A Twist in the Myth - Blind Guardian
Crime Slunk Scene - Buckethead
Amputechture - The Mars Volta
Black Holes and Revelations - Muse
Emissaries - Melechesh

And a negative thing about this year would be Nightwish creating their ***est album to date.

2005 was much better than both of these years.

Use the internet for your news. It is much more reliable than the stupid tv or the radio where the people are more influenced by money.

Urban Hat€monger ? 11-04-2007 12:04 PM

I'm struggling to see whats so great about this year.

All i've heard this year is a couple of good albums and several ok ones. That doesn't make a good year to me.

right-track 11-04-2007 12:06 PM

I remember a thread we did last year about the best album releases. There were plenty to mention of note.
This years so far I'm struggling to count them all on the fingers of one hand.

icebox 11-07-2007 05:04 AM

2007 is a year to remember

I think 2007 has produced better music than 2006. :thumb:

Jonz 11-07-2007 05:49 AM

Tough one, both were/have been good years. 2006 I discovered some great music, but tastes have changed a bit since then, and I think overall, I've enjoyed 2007's releases more, so it gets my vote.

MidnightMarauder 11-07-2007 12:51 PM

It's 2007 for me

I can see all these albums staying in my rotation well into the future:

Feist - The Reminder
Kanye West - Graduation
Jay-Z - American Gangster
Animal Collective - Strawberry Jam
Arcade Fire - Neon Bible
Radiohead - In Rainbows
M.I.A. - Kala
Spoon - G5
Sunset Rubdown - Random Spirit Lover
Wilco - Sky Blue Sky
White Stripes - Icky Thump

there's some more I'm also, but ya, a lot of good music happened this year.

Agreed. I want to punch their new singer in the throat.
