That cd is great. Golden Skans I believe the name is, is my favorite on there.

I think Serj Tankian's debut, "Elect the Dead," is pretty good. It is a good thing he left the rest of those sell-outs in System of a Down.

adidasss 10-28-2007 06:05 PM

WTF? First I've heard of this...incidentally, why are the rest of them sell-outs?

You got the title exactly right and that's definitely one of my favourites too.

Serj sold out too. Those last two albums SOAD made were the same material on Toxicity. They just used the same sound again, but with different lyrics. They didn't really sell-out for money as much as they did for politics. Though I wouldn't be surprised if the guitarist was in it for the money.

I dissagree, i think there sound did change. Not only that but vocal harmonies got much better.

The Infadels.

adidasss 10-29-2007 03:19 AM

That album has two good songs...:\

Jonz 10-29-2007 03:32 AM

The Twilight Sad - Fourteen Autumns and Fifteen Winters

It's the only debut album I've heard this year... and it's quite a good one.

They were always at least somewhat of a political band. If anything, they became less political on their later albums.

I will agree the harmonies got much better, but I don't think the overall sound changed.

Yes, but they chose to become popular because they wanted to spread their political message, at least that is what I think.

adidasss 10-29-2007 03:50 PM

Lol, someone can choose to become popular?O.o

What I mean is that the people liked the sound of the album Toxicity so SOAD just kept the same sound so that people would keep listening to their political message.

either that or they can totally change their sound inside out into

"what the kids like these days" such as like poppy boring generic riffs

with a coupla woman like vocals about taking girls to waterparks.

Mezmerize and Hypnotize sounded fairly different from Toxicity imo. I used to actually like Toxicity, but I was never able to get into either of those other two.

I know I've mentioned this before but 'Fields' - 'Everything Last Winter' is definitely among the best debut albums I've heard this year.
