If you´re gonna spend time on writing the lyrics of a song which belongs to the pop, rock, blues, folk, etc, genre I will give my thoughts on those lyrics because they exist.
On the other hand, I would not say negative things about repetitive phrases on say, a Kraftwerk song because I know why the phrase/lyrics are in constant repetition.
It's pop, you twit. If you want to listen to pop but refuse to ignore the irrelevant lyrics then that shows a lack of versatility on your part. Certain qualities in music simply are not necessarily relevant to certain genres that are relevant to other genres, and if you can't recognize that and adapt then you probably just shouldn't be listening to that genre unless you train your ears to adapt.

list of genres where i highly value lyrics:
- hip hop

that’s not to say that good lyrics aren’t an added bonus in other genres, but so long as they aren’t cringe worthy or annoying i don’t really care. i like my pop music stupid, sleazy, and catchy af. so should you.

I still say that you need to learn to appreciate hip hop with ****ty lyrics, but otherwise totally.

Well, that´s just your point of view and I respect it although I disagree. Bohemian Rhapsody was a chart-topper when it was released in the 70s. That means that such a lyrical masterpiece can be considered a pop song. From 40 years ago, yes, but pop anyways. You can put that song at a Katy Perry concert and people will sing along, just like they will 40 years from now if you switch BR for Hot n Cold just to name a song. The Beatles were considered pop and have phenomenal lyrics, Purple Rain is a pop song as well. Pop is not just one genre, it bleeds into others, like Pop/Rock or Electro-pop like Calvin Harris, where lyrics are not relevant like you said because of the characteristics of the sub-genre.
I will talk about lyrics in pop and if I have to criticize Ariana Grande´s or Freddie Mercury´s, I will.
Cheers,
A twit

Also expectations should be left at the door when you listen to music. That includes an expectation for lyrics as good [sic] as Bohemian Rhapsody's.
