I was never really into Dylan myself 'til quite quite recently, by which I mean into his work beyond an album or two. It's probably John Wesley Harding that stands as my third favourite - the Ballad Of Frankie Lee and Judas Priest is just something else.

? Mark and the Mysterians- 96 Tears

This is a pretty awesome 60's garage rock band with a lot of pop influences. All the songs are catchy and particularly lo-fi.


Busdriver- Jhelli Beam

This is my first listen to Busdriver's follow up to Temporary Forever, which I think was his debut. Overall, it's a lot less challenging than the first. He definitely keeps his abstract, slam-poet style but makes it a little more catchy.

Mr. Bungle - Disco Volante

I've owned this album for probably four or five years, and for me, I've always been heavy into their other two LPs. I've heard this CD many times, and its just now that I'm finally starting to gain an appreciation for it. And it's been blowing me away lately. Definitely their most absurd, free-form work. And when you say that about a band like Mr. Bungle, you know it's fuckin' crazy.

^ As if by sheer coincidence, I've probably had that album for that amount of time too. I made the mistake of buying the CD when I was just finishing high school, back when my only experience with Mike Patton was Faith No More's the Real Thing. My little mind was officially blown!

Took me years to summon the nerve to give it more listens, and I'm glad I did - it's a great little album.

Haha, for real. Both great albums. I'd already heard the debut before Disco Volante, and it was still a total wut? mind-fuck.

Quicksand - Manic Compression



It'll never be as good as Slip, but for some reason it's really doing it for me right now. I'm enjoying it more than other times. There are so many moments (on both albums) that remind me of Fireside. But more hardcore. I think it's in the vocals. Haven't played Fireside in some time, gonna have to bust some out soon.
