The Afghan Whigs - Gentlemen

I forgot just how ****ing awesome this album is, so i decided to dust it off and give it a spin. When We Two Parted still sends shivers down my spine, just brilliant :)

Avant-garde accordion music. Badass.

The self-titled debut from Chilean outfit Gondwana. It's the best reggae I've heard in ages. Terrific dub rhythms and effects, great ska augmentations and wonderful vocals. I see an album review popping up in the near future :D

It's getting to the point where I can't get through a day without listening to at least a few songs from this album. It's barely half an hour long in total, but it's something about those sublime backing tracks and Scott Walker's magnificent vocal that keeps drawing me back to it.

Yeah I have that Gondwana too. Damn fine stuff. South America has such a vibrant Reggae scene and it seems to generally be very rootsy sounding too.

I'm gonna have to explore the South American scene a bit more - I do have a reasonable amount of reggae, but it's all either British or Jamaican. Any other bands you think I should keep an eye out for?

Ponto De Equilibrio
Los Cafres (but i'm sure I sent you some stuff?)
Sons Of Jah Army
Natiruts

Yeah, you sent me some Los Cafres a while back. I should really give them another listen - cheers for the reminder (and the link in the first place).

I'll check out those other three soonish as well.

Holland 1945 seals the deal for me. A great album if I've ever heard one.

Typing up my last album review got me digging out all my old African folk albums again, this being among them. Absolutely sublime instrumental music this - the kora makes such a gorgeous little sound.

^ Picked up a copy of this the other day. It's good enough, but not quite the best reggae I've ever heard.
