Ah, yes, the fabulous Midnight Oil.... saw them three times, once in a stadium, once in a small pub, and once at an outdoor festival... great band, amazing back catalogue...

Pity that Peter Garret gave up the microphone to join the Labor party... but hey at least Aussie can claim to have one of the most formidable political songwriters of the twentieth century as one of its leaders... pretty awesome to consider it...

The moment Peter Garret joined the Labour party was the moment I lost all respect for him and saw what a hypocrite he is.

But I do love Midnight Oil. I saw them at a music festival once, too.

I just love Midnight Oil. Never got to see them live unfortunately. I heard their live shows were awesome. Their live album "Scream In Blue Live" is brilliant.

I heard of many people regarding Pete Garrett a hypocrite now he's into politics. I guess that's what happens when you go into politics with many ideals and make a lot of compromises. Maybe he should go back to music.

The truth is spoken! I was actually talking about this very thing the other day down the pub - it's amazing what a pint or two of Guinness does for conversation. Peter Garret's compromised his beliefs long enough, so the sooner he gets out of politics the better.

That Scream In Blue album is ace btw (great song too). There's a bootleg of an acoustic gig of theirs from 1993 I think which is one of my most played bootlegs - top-drawer stuff.

Yeah, Guinness or any good beer for that matter can do amazing things for conversations. We used to be able to solve most awkward problems over a beer.

That sounds great. I only got me that album about a year ago and kind of got back into them. Been playing it a lot.

Digging some old Something for Kate... the Beautiful Sharks album to be precise... ten years on, its still a flawless listen, in my opinion!

I haven't listened to this album in nearly 5 years and my god it still has that same profound effect it did when I first heard it when I was like 14. There are certain albums that stay with you your entire life, and I'm pretty sure this album is going to be one of them. The only song I don't care much for is "Drips".

A Ray LaMontagne album for me is like a syringe full of heroine for a junkie: I know that in the long run it's only making matters worse, but it sure feels good right now.

Yanqui U.X.O. by Godspeed You! Black Emperor.

Took me a while to finally listen to this band!
