Sun Kil Moon - This is My Dinner

A beautiful collection of Mark Kozelek's aimless monologues set to vivid tones. My intro to SKM and I gotta say I'm a fan, but for what reason, aesthetics or the album's actual substance, I don't know. It's relaxing and downright hypnotizing.

Geinoh Yamashirogumi - Ecophony Rinne (1986)

This was the beginning of the legendary lineup that recorded the Akira soundtrack I believe. Saw them mentioned in another thread and it sparked a desire to jump back into their catalog. Devilishly beautiful music with a nice late 80's sheen.

Lonnie Liston Smith - Rejuvenation (1985)

Probably the best smooth jazz artist of all time besides Pat Metheny, and this album is a good indication as to why. Dreamlike, but surprisingly experimental when you least expect it. And the melodies are just perfect, topped off with Smith's uncanny ability to blend Bossa Nova grooves with a Pharoah Sanders-ian sense of spirituality.

The spiritual aspect was in no small part due to Cecil McBee's playing here.
Having a Sri Chinmoy piece helped too. ;)

Vanja Sky - Bad Penny

https://www.bear-family.com/media/im...7a_720x600.jpg

Pretty straight forward blues album from a young performer.

It's her first and only album so far. A bit amateur. Especially the vocals are a bit hesitant and shy. Maybe she's just more at home in a live context than in the studio. But the album still has some stand-out tracks and overall good vibes. I like the music and the general sound of the album. Not a mindblowing album by any means, but I like it. Not least, I'm hoping for something more convincing from Vanja down the line.

Apparently this krautrock band formed by Geoff Barrow has been around for awhile now and nobody told me. :banghead: Thank god for Bandcamp recommendations or else I wouldn't have found this!

Good band! If you can get hold of the extra disc that comes
with the second album, you'll really be in heaven. This one:

OK, so the latest CRZKNY has been out for 4 months and I didn't know,
but this is really his best. Minimal, uncomfortably dark, vein melter in all it's jukeness.
Called Spit the Album. Really liking this one.
