Black Sabbath- Paranoid
Bit of a Sabbath craze recently.

The Strange Boys- The Strange Boys and Girls Club
Great flower punk reminiscent of the black lips.

The Action- Rolled Gold
I found this band on a Nuggets compilation and they turned out to be pretty good.

I haven't been able to post on here for awhile...looking to try and post a lot more. Anyways, I've been absolutely spellbound lately by Mew. I started with their latest, No More Stories/Are Told Today... and was absolutely blown away. It's like gorgeous indie pop mixed with prog elements. Suffice it to say I've been steamrolling their discography and I'm incredibly impressed. They seem to be able to mix up their sound with each album and yet still keep what makes them great, which not many bands are able to do well.

I'm liking their new one quite a bit but still prefer And the Glass Handed Kites.

I think on initial listens I prefer No More Stories to And The Glass Handed Kites. Listened to Frengers for the first time tonight and really liked it, might be my 2nd favorite. Their debut is outstanding too though. Good thing I don't have to choose.

Tipper - Surrounded

http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/...500_AA280_.jpg

My goodness this is good. I've recently rediscovered this guy. In my nu-skool breaks phase 6 or so years ago, I acquired a mix CD by Tipper that I liked quite a bit. It may have had some of his own productions on it but I don't recall. Anyway at the time, I would often check out an artist whose track I liked on a mix and be disappointed by their full-length albums. I didn't know until recently that Tipper had so many LPs out. Though at the time he probably only had 2, and has a total of 8 now. So a few weeks ago when I rediscovered him I sampled nearly all his albums on Amazon and was really impressed with what I heard. A good variety of crunchy electronic music. I checked out the album Relish the Trough which was quite good but I've only played once so far. I sampled this one last night and got a much more chill vibe, kind of reminding me of Plaid and Aphex Twin's mellow numbers. I'm nearly done playing it now and I'm giving it 4/5 stars out of the gate...really solid mellow electronic/IDM album.

Reformed Faction - I Am the Source of Light, I Am Not a Mirror

http://www.notbreathing.com/reformedbox.jpg

Another one from my lastpost in the 'recent purchase/download' thread. Unfortunately this was a download and I don't have the awesome package pictured above. This is a 3-CD set of new and original material released earlier this year. Essentially ambient/music concrete/industrial but surprisingly active and very interesting. It's not drone, in other words. I'm just wrapping up disc 3 and I'm just really impressed with this. The band is essentially the reformation of :zoviet*france: but without all members. I've been aware of both due to Mark Spybey's involvement, but had never listened to their stuff until now. Mark Spybey records solo as Dead Voices On Air (I have a few of his albums) and contributed heavily to the first two Download albums, Furnace and The Eyes of Stanley Pain (the accompanying EP Sidewinder having provided my name and avatar), albums which I love very dearly. On these 3 discs, I definitely can hear some of the similar sounds that I love so much in the two Download albums. I'm also reminded of some of Psychic TV's work, such as that on the Electric Newspaper series.

PENETRATION - MOVING TARGETS (1978)
Theres not exactly many bands formed out of nearby County Durham but i have always felt that female fronted Penetration were one of many overlooked gems from the British punk scene in the late 70's. Tight live band too.
