Wish the world would hurry up and see this band for the geniuses they were.

A really good modern prog album I bet none of yous know about. Get yourself it. For fans of King Crimson, Van der Graaf Generator, Black Bonzo, Matthew Parmenter (and Discipline), and a touch of Danava.

It's all about the Genesis for me tonight, listening to their most recent live albums, collectively known as The Way We Walk volumes 1 and 2....

Ewwwwwww Genesis with Phil Collins singing? What is this, Amateur Hour?

scottsy 11-27-2009 09:46 PM

May well be, but I am just not caring. I like, I listen. I'm so tired of the Genesis without Gabriel were crap notion as well. They weren't. Phil Collins started to suck pretty quickly but Genesis were more than just him with louder keyboards, and sometimes you just wish some of the so called "open minded music fans" you encounter would actually open their minds to some of this music (not just write off the ballads and Invisible Touch type hits).

Mock if You will, but this is a darn good live set. Can't hear anyone these days coming near this in terms of complexity / creativity in the pop genre....

I like some of the Collins-era stuff, for sure. Like you said, he started to suck pretty quickly, but there are some gems. A Trick of the Tail and Wind & Wuthering are both really good, and about half of Duke is good. I still haven't heard And Then There Were Three. Abacab and Genesis are pretty lame though, and beyond that, during their late 80s/early 90s pop era, I liked a few singles when I was a kid.

Rubberoom - Architechnology

Been cranking this absolute classic quite a bit recently. My ultimate hop-hip/rap album from the underground Chicago group, their only release. I can't say the flow is amazing (It isn't) but the beats just rock, and sometimes the rapping just works despite not being clean, though I don't like most clean rapping anyway. Enough nice words said in a realtively early and dodgy review here. Ignore the 8.5, this is a must listen in my books.

**** quality youtube upload of my favourite song

This has always been my favourite Collins era Genesis track. Chilling!
