Meat Puppets - Meat Puppets II

Recommended to me by Loser, it's one of those albums which makes you think 'where the hell has this been all my life?'. Like 80's indie Johnny Cash songs.

Fucked Up - Hidden World

Yeah the songs are a little on the long side, but Crusades is quite the opener and Vivian Girls is quite the closer. It's a powerful blend of hardcore and catchy punk chords.

The Zombies - Odessey & Oracle

I've been seeing this little ditty pop up on a bunch of lists and realized I had no idea who this group was. I realized, once I downloaded this album, that they were responsible for Time of Season - a song I have long loved, but never quite... remembered to look for it? Anyway - it came on and I was hooked. Then I started listening to the rest of the album.... and I am quickly becoming enchanted- all of these songs are gorgeous early 60's Brit Invasion songs. I am almost astonished that I don't hear more about the Zombies on a day to day basis when I discuss music. Pick this up if you haven't. I'm going to look for it on vinyl. This has already started climbing it's way into my top 50 favorite albums.

Now that I have a decent mp3 player I can delve more into my back catalogue as well as hearing new music fully.

A fine, fine Post-Rock album. Has booboo heard this? There is a definite whiff of Prog Rock in there. of course this makes it even better!

Agalloch-The Mantle.

How good is this album? An unbelieveably multi layered, well written piece of Ambient Metal. It get's better with every listen.

Lou Rhodes-Beloved One.

The vocalist from one of my favourite bands Lamb produces her debut album since Lamb folded. Her distinctive vocals float all over sparse acoustic guitar with subtle strings and percussion. Beautiful.

Elliott Smith-Figure 8.

His vocals are finally starting to grow on me. There are some fantastic pop tunes on here. Others may classify him differently but he adheres close to classic pop structure.

Two amazing albums. Figure 8 is a great album. But not nearly as good as XO. One Time For All Time might be my favourite post rock album. 65 Doesn't understand you and Radio Protector are insane songs. Radio Protector has the coolest progressions in it.

My favorite of his albums. Its very strong, and much more upbeat than A Sun Came. "The Predatory Wasp of the Palisades" is simply excellent.

I don't think many people give the two producers as much credit as they've earned. It may not be wholly cohesive, but it's really difficult to do with such a motley crew of contributors. It's definitely a huge departure from Psyence Fiction. There are way more rock ballads and a good amount of talent brought forth. The second part of "When Things Explode" is a favorite of mine.
