Lansing-Dreiden - The Incomplete Triangle (2004)

I'm always astonished that more people don't know about this band. I think more and more when I listen to the album, it seems ahead of its time. Now hold on...yes they have a retro sound that incorporates post-punk, synth pop, shoegaze, 60s pop and possibly some other things, so it's not exactly fresh and new music of the future. But what they do well is mix all those things to great effect, crafting some wonderful and varied pop songs. I seem to be hearing more and more of this type of stuff (yes some from bands that have been around for a while too) and the style is gaining more and more traction, yet still no one knows this band. Maybe it'll be one of those albums that people discover years down the line and ends up being a landmark album of the genre. Or something. :D Again I'm not calling them innovators, it's just a great album that's all. Unfortunately there are a few filler tracks, but the good tracks are 5/5 IMO. And sadly their follow-up was a bit of a step down also.

Unfortunately only one song from this album is on YouTube. But I also recommend the following:

Eternal Lie (scroll down to player)
I Keep Everything
Laid in Stone (3rd track in lala player. Pitchfork is shit, don't listen to their hipster bs that's focused too much on the band not enough on the music)
Desert Lights

Actually forget those links, just get the damn album it's easier.

Even the album title makes me think of ripping clothes off and stuffing body parts into someone

I always wondered... how many children is Isaac Hayes indirectly responsible for... I'm not saying many he has FATHERED directly...just how many kids got conceived due to his music being soooo seductive...

Chapterhouse - Whirlpool
A shoegaze classic. Some really awesome songs, huge guitar sounds and some great drumming thrown in for good measure.

The House Of Love - The House Of Love (Butterfly)
These guys are just great, it's a shame they never really made it. This is the second self-titled album, i still have to track down the first Creation one.

I don't know about that.
They were basically the new indie press darlings after The Smiths broke up.
Between 1987 & 1989 you couldn't get away from this band.

Then the Stone Roses came along.
