Heliocentric is alright, but it's more of really heavy alternative rock with only tiny traces of the sludgy goodness they did before. That may sound interesting to you, but in my opinion they don't really pull it off.

I definitely will do that. Thank you. I haven't really listened to them that much lately, so I think this will be a good place to pick up. Thanks for the suggestion.

One of the best Post-Beatles Macca albums and the finale Rinse the raindrops is amazing.

Robyn Hitch****-I Often Dream Of Trains
Ruddy brilliant folk-pop from one of British music's great mavericks.

My listening tonight...

October Rust - Type O Negative- I love this album so much. It really opened me up to so many new styles of music, and while it may still be their most commercial sounding album, it's just so damn glorious sounding, well composed and just plain fun. Still can't believe Pete Steel passed away April this year... we so lost a great musician/songwriter/personality...

Paul Dempsey - Everything Is True Something for Kate's lead singer/songwriter makes a great solo album, definitely equal of his work with his band, but somehow having a less band oriented more diverse sound, trying some tempos the band don't do, adding sounds and textures... really impressive guitar work too.

Fursaxa - Mycorrhizae Realm

Avant-Folk/Drone

One listen through, and my initial reaction is: "awawawawawawawawawawaw this is by far one of the most amazing things I've heard this entire year!!!". Of course I can't quite judge it yet, but I doubt this opinion is going to fade or diminish... "Charlote" and "Well of Tuhala" in particular are absolutely entrancing. The last few minutes of "Charlote" where the strings begin rolling up and down with the fading voices are frighteningly good. The artists managed to encroach so much terrain that is usually sworn off by albums of this genre, and it advances beyond sadness and blissfulness to create its own stylistic 'boundaries'. For instance, the final track "Ode to Goliards" is the perfect goodbye, and the sentiments of the farewell wrapped up inside of it feel infinitely more pure and believable than they would have been anywhere else.

For the record, I tried not to be so wordy about defining how this album's sound comes across... But this album calls for a lot of flowery diction, just in order to try to do it justice. Oftentimes, great albums leave me speechless. But here, there is so much to talk about and decipher. It's a very open and all-embracing album, that frequently conjures up vivid landscapes in my head, produces emotional feedback, and anything else you'd demand of a good album... All on one, surface-value listen.

Checking this out. I've heard only good things about Fursaxa, but for some reason haven't checked them (her?) out yet.
