Only The Lonely by the Motels is a personal favorite.

That's from their third album All Four One a good album, but I'm really a fan of their debut release with its more rawer approach.

Another great album from 1980 was the debut by the Feelies a kind of jangly new wave and sounding at times like some strange hybrid of the Talking Heads and B52s and looking like Weezer, long before Weezer were around

Matt Elliott - The Broken Man (2012)

It's just so horribly dark, desolate, and depressing that I can't help but love it, as misanthropic and curmudgeon as I am. Such beautiful acoustic sections that you can't help but give it your full attention despite the lyrical content... I mean someone really fucking broke Mr. Elliott's heart for him to write an album like this, I mean they should really be commended for helping create such a masterpiece.

Kashiwa Daisuke - Program Music I (2007)

Stunningly beautiful modern classical/glitch/post-rock album. I think if you liked the Lie Lay Land by World's End Girlfriend, you'll really enjoy this as well.

Probably my favorite (The Sounds of) Kaleidoscope release. So many good tracks that really catch you, the guitars, the multi-tracked melodies. Ahhh, it's so good.

Ah god this album is great. It's very different from Geek the Girl in which it aims for beauty rather than mind-numbing depression. A lot of very gorgeous melodies on here. I think I prefer Geek the Girl to this one, but this is still a fantastic album, and I could see it warming up to me even more with subsequent listens. I'm really looking forward to getting and listening to Hapiness, which connects these two albums.
