Despite my love of vinyl, I completely agree that some albums are meant to be on tape... some of the drone and experimental music in particular released just on cassettes wouldn't work any other way.

Global Underground 29 - Sharam (Dubai)

Double house CD from back in 2006 by Sharam (half of Deep Dish). The second disc on this is more upbeat and clubby sounding house, but its all about disc 1. An extremely slow, brooding, mellow mix that never fails when you just wanna chill out and relax.

The 1st song on here, DYAD 10 - Sugar (Sweet Thing) [Nicka & Alse Remix], sets the tone for whats to follow so well. It's also a song that's way up there on my list, as far as favorites go.

This mix has been a favorite of mine for years, and I'm really diggin it atm so I thought I'd throw it up here.

"Precambrian" -The Ocean

Straight from Germany comes a mammoth, 2 disc work of art; the workings of a collective of 8 musicians, the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra, and a host of guest appearances (such as Caleb from Cave In, Nate from Converge/Doomriders, etc.).

The first disc is a straightforward metal onslaught, furious, but to be honest really predictable and poor compared to the second disc. Transforming with a subtle, 1 minute jazz interlude, the album gives on to the second disc, a melting pot of post-metal, electronica, hardcore, and classical music to form something completely beautiful, odd, crushing, and simply different in the somewhat monotonous post-metal scene.

Try it out!

Tindersticks-Simple Pleasures
Takes a few listens to gel but the quality control on this album is the strictest on any Tindersticks album yet.

Current 93 - Black Ships Ate the Sky (2006)

Transcendental neofolk courtesy of David Tibet and collaborators (Will Oldham, Antony, Shirley Collins). Possibly my favorite Current 93 album so far, an extraordinary work to say the least. This guy is growing quite nicely on me.
