Elvis Costello - National Ransack EP

The other EP I got hold of yesterday, and just like the one I posted about above, it's pretty bloody impressive. It's more focussed and bluegrassy than National Ransom, and it's just so lively, catchy, memorable etc. I'm on my third or fourth listen already, and I'd go as far as saying that as a unit of work it's probably better than any of his last three full length albums.

I only downloaded this album a half an hour ago but I really like it already, it's really nice folk pop, but with portions of really interesting sounds and instrumentals mixed in to make it different from the rest. Plus glorious tape hiss!

Basically The Flaming Lips indulge their Soft Boys influences to their conclusion. If all you know is the post-Soft Bulletin stuff, this is a radical introduction to the "real" Lips sound, in all it's bonkers glory.

Ethyl Meatplow - Happy Days, Sweetheart



sooo underrated....i honestly cannot describe exactly what they sound like but i suppose early 90s alt rock mixed with industrial....but it really is so much more than that...dance music for a mental institution....they had very mild success in the mid 90s....and i had the absolute pleasure of sneaking into a 21+ show (with Thrill Kill Kult) when i was 17 and was completely blown away by the debauchery and the very strong feministic presence...this started a never ending crush on Carla Bozulich

This is the first time I actually heard Ethyl Meatplow. I always wanted to check them out 'cause I love Geraldine Fibbers. This is a surprise, I didn't expect them to sound like this, interesting. I'd say Geraldine Fibbers are also underrated, rarely do I hear them mentioned, here never. Have you heard Scarnella, one album project/band by Carla Bozulich and Nels Cline?
