No, SCUM was a very important album.

Updated and we can start debating the removal of albums now. So if there's an album you don't want on there that's on there, post your request for its removal and explain why.

Awta.

In that case it kills me to knock off all Slayer albums other than Reign In Blood
When we get to the 90's Seasons comes into play;)

Cindi Lauper "She's So Unusual"
Did Cindi Lauper even write her own music? Don't answer I don't really care because even if she does it doesn't excuse the fact that her music is awful. She epitomizes everything wrong with America in the 80s, terrible pop music and awful hair.

Madonna "Like a Virgin"
See Cindi Lauper.

Michael Jackson "Thriller"
See Cindi Lauper but throw in an overrated comment as well as a pedophile joke.

That was a 3 in one, I'm done for now.

I take it a couple of the early 80s Metallica albums have already been mentioned...or have they not? If not, I reckon they ought to be.

I must agree on Lauper though. Not too sure about Madonna.

Anyone else for cutting it back to one album per artist, maybe two if they had more than one "classic" album? I love The Smiths, and Strangeways is definitely a good album, but I don't see how it belongs on a list of the top hundred albums of the eighties.

It's not like every Smiths album is going to end up on the list I just threw them all on there because each is considered classic. I think if we cut it to one album per artist we'll have trouble making up the 100 which will end up with filler. Plus if an artist releases several great albums why shouldn't they get credit?

Thriller is the epitome of overrated, it's not nearly as great or influential on artists that matter as everyone makes it out to be. It's a good pop album but I don't think it's very worthy of being in the top 100.

Bad Brains "Bad Brains"
Bad Brains "I Against I"
I'd take both these off & replace them with Rock For Light

We have 168 albums in case anyone was curious. Also rules to removal is basically going to be entirely up to my discretion but most likely if your argument is compelling enough I'll remove it or if a bunch of people back you.

sleepy jack 12-31-2007 04:35 PM

My suggestions for removal and I'll elaborate on them further if someone wants me to.

Bruce Springsteen "Nebraska"
Dead Kennedys "Plastic Surgery Disasters"
Gorilla Biscuits "Start Today"
Madonna "Like a Virgin"
Queen "The Works"
Queen "The Game"
Tears for Fears "The Hurting"
The Smiths "Strangeways, Here We Come"
Van Halen "1984"
Van Halen "Fair Warning"
