Pat Benatar does have quite a few decent, popular songs that certainly do pack a lot of emotion in them. "We Belong" is my favorite, and I'd heard "Fire and Ice" before, but two other songs by her that I enjoy whenever I hear them on the radio are "Heartbreaker" and "Hit Me With Your Best Shot." They don't break any revolutionary musical ground and do sound very "commerical" with standard format and sound, but they're good songs! Pat Benatar - "Heartbreaker" One of my favorite songs that she sings, and a great performance video I'd recommend if you haven't seen it yet. |

I never saw the video for "Love Is A Battlefield" before. I had always assumed the song was about troubled romantic love rather than the love between parents and children, so seeing that interpretation was a pleasant surprise! |

This is a personal favorite by Otis Redding also, More Than Words Can Say.. ..I like the singles "That's How Strong My Love Is" and "Just One More Day" too. |
The Beatles - "I Want To Hold Your Hand" (1964)
...followed by an old Lipton Instant Tea commercial served up by perky wifey in kitchen. :) Probably the first Beatles song I heard as a child, I always liked "I Want To Hold Your Hand" because of its sweetness and buoyancy. The song manages to be simple and profound at the same time as it describes "that something." It shows how easy and straight-forward love can feel. The song also suggests the power of the emotion that makes you want to hold someone's hand: the simple urge for closeness with someone you love and with whom you feel happiness when she or he is near can result in lifelong effects. I think that is one reason the song has so many screaming, adoring fans: |
