In terms of sheer musicality, I think this is probably my favourite love song. It's so bittersweet, but with so much sweetness that it makes up for the almost depressing subject matter of the song. It's just the right level, just the right feeling for a love song, one that speaks of actual Devotion rather than growling "Let's get it ooowwwnnnnn" seductively in your ear while it gyrates its hips in your general direction. Plus it has a killer sax solo in the middle :P

However, it's not the song that speaks the most about love to me. That honour falls to a song that is rather a guilty pleasure for me... one which gets the title because of the memories associated with it.

Nearly two years ago now, I met a girl who basically threw my entire opinion of life out the window. Meeting her changed my view of life, changed the way I saw myself, and made me finally take the plunge and break up with the girl I'd been going out with for 3 years. Needless to say, I was thoroughly infatuated with her within a few days of meeting her, and went on to spend one of the most... interesting... weeks of my life in her company, along with a bunch of other friends. We spent a lot of time driving, and She always asked me to choose the music while she drove, and she had this particularly cute way of bouncing in her seat when driving if a song that she particularly liked came on... Needless to say I quickly learnt as much as I could about which songs she liked to hear, and tried to get the progression right as much as possible (which was a lot easier than it might have been did we not turn out to think and act in almost exactly the same way). There was however one particular song which was a love song, which stood out even among the songs that she especially liked, and lodged in my head in many ways. I used to daydream about dancing with her to that song, seducing her, drawing her to my side with its help, because it had formed one of the many bonds between us.

Nowadays, I live with that girl (when we're not in different countries like at the moment), and will probably never leave her, but the song still stands as a monument, to my success in catching her, and also as a reminder to the sheer infatuation I felt for her then which still exists in me, though it has grown past it in many ways. Every time I hear it, it reminds me of those times, and of her, and makes me feel especially lonely and in need of a hug when we're not together...

I'm very happy that you are still both in each other's life. I was half-afraid that happy beginning you were describing, with her bouncing on the seat when she liked a song, would turn sour.
