I wish I had this much talent at your age. Keep it up. I'm glad you are branching out musically and making music that you want to hear, not what you think other people should hear.

sleepy jack 02-09-2008 05:54 PM

I'm going to fix this and add a layer of several kind of sounding like they're being played far away distorted guitars and I'm also going to re-do the drums so for now tell me how you feel about the piano..

right-track 02-09-2008 05:56 PM

Piano's fine, but lose the drums completely.

ProggyMan 02-09-2008 06:16 PM

I second r-t.

CMON GUYS LISTEN

ProggyMan 02-09-2008 09:48 PM

Seems sort of...Bland. Great piano piece, but it needs more.

sleepy jack 02-09-2008 09:51 PM

I only have access to piano/drums/guitar/bass. I think some strings would be nice but I can't afford a violin. I can't think of much else to add without it sounding out of place.

ProggyMan 02-09-2008 09:54 PM

Ah. I'd say try using two quiet guitar pieces to flesh it out a little. Maybe that's getting away from your vision, dunno.

sleepy jack 02-09-2008 10:13 PM

I tried that just now, there's actually 3 different guitars in here 4 guitar parts total. I did the drone thing I already had going twice (a few milliseconds apart) and then added two outtakes I did one was a constant strumming the other was a more frequent strumming than the last one, I also increased the sound a bit.

Do you think it sounds better? It kind of drowns out the piano at points.

Also if this one sounds slightly better do you think I should loop the piano again so it plays for the outro (and maybe add something else so its different then the whole thing) or leave the outro as the distortion?

Hmmm... I think you cut it off to soon. I'd let the distortion slowly fade out into nothing.

Its interesting and I see your vision, however I think it needs refinement.

Lizzie 02-09-2008 11:20 PM

I think the best part about it was the simplisity of it, I don't think you should add lots of other crazy stuff to it...something like the strings would be effective, but I don't think it should be overdone, if that makes any sense

tkpb938 02-09-2008 11:22 PM

Yep, the simplicity is quite a bit of its charm i think.

The Unfan 02-09-2008 11:28 PM

Seconding the simplicity notion. It gives it a kind of atmosphere. Too much more and you'd lose the eeriness of it.

sleepy jack 02-10-2008 06:53 PM

So is the second version (with louder and more guitars) better than the first (with quieter and less guitars)? And should I let the distortion fade out or let the piano be the outro?

Laces Out Dan! 02-10-2008 07:35 PM

Its no "City Streets and Two Tone Beats" :)
Or better yet, that newest Untitled Jinx Removing song...Which I really cant wait to hear a good recording of.

sleepy jack 02-10-2008 09:17 PM

By Tuesday I'll have a demo finished. I have my one song and then an intro/outro that people may think are haunting and dope or think are trash. I plan to record two more songs over the next two days.
