Eh, I'll let Sam or someone else talk crap about it first and that'll give me an excuse to go into "worked up hyper defensive proggie" mode.

I'm a bit too tired at the moment.

yeah, me too, it's almost 3 right now

Oh come on, I can't stay up for that

Take it from a prog head, Fear of a Blank Planet sucks regardless of how you look at it.

Meh, I hate Porcupine Tree in general. I just threw out an album title in hopes that maybe I might get the larger explanation of why someone would like them.

Someone explain what's so great about Fear of a Blank Planet. (there's the bone I've been waiting to throw).

If someone doesn't like a particular band or album then it's kinda pointless extolling the virtues to them. It would be like trying to empty the sea with a bucket. With a hole in the bottom of the bucket. It would be like trying to convince me that Green Day are great-a complete waste of time!

That's probably true a lot of the time, but as someone who has reversed his opinion on a lot of bands over the years I do see a point to it. Sometimes you realize that you haven't heard the band's best album or that you were coming to the band with the wrong set of expectations or not paying attention to the right things about them. A lot of times I'm curious to hear what fans have to say about bands that I don't like but who seem to be well regarded. Sometimes they even win me over.
